Sad Day for Country Music - Don Williams and Troy Gentry both Died Today

For those that follow country music, two well know entertainers have died today.

 

Don Williams

Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Williams has died at age 78 following a short illness, his publicist announced Friday afternoon (Sept. 8). A major hitmaker during the ’70s and ’80s, Williams scored 17 No. 1 singles, including “You’re My Best Friend,” “Till the Rivers All Run Dry,” “Some Broken Hearts Never Mend,” “Tulsa Time” and “Good Ole Boys Like Me.”

Troy Gentry

Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry died Friday in a helicopter crash in Medford, New Jersey. He was 50. The crash occurred around 1 p.m. ET. The duo had been scheduled to perform at the Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford. Details of the crash are unknown, but initial reports indicate that his musical partner Eddie Montgomery was not aboard the helicopter. The identity of one other person killed in the crash has not yet been released by investigators.
