Just to let you know, folks, this isn't a "what's your favourite double album?" thread. Rather, I'm asking you to list your favourite songs as if they made up a double album

As you can see by my selection, it contains tracks by several different artists/bands

Sorry for any initial confusion :)

this is just the ultimate from the 60s and a few 70s - I might do another one for the 80s and 90s -

It's My Life - The Animals

I Feel Fine - The Beatles

19th Nervous Breakdown - The Rolling Stones

It Won't Be Wrong - The Byrds

It's All Over Now, Baby Blue - Bob Dylan

Slip Inside This House - The 13th Floor Elevators

Side 2

Stop, In The Name of Love - The Supremes

Summer In The City - The Lovin' Spoonful

Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys

Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones

Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles

Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett

Summertime - Booker T and the MGs

Ticket To Ride - The Beatles

Side 3

'Ol 55 - Tom Waits

Tenderness - Paul Simon

Captain Jim's Drunken Dream - James Taylor

River - Joni Mitchell

Hard Times - Ray Charles

Rainy Night in Georgia - Brook Benton

Love and Happiness - Al Green

Everyday People - Sly and the Family Stone

Side 4

A Day in the Life - The Beatles

River Man - Nick Drake

I've Seen All Good People - Yes

Sail Away - Randy Newman

Sundown - Gordon Lightfoot

Out On The Weekend - Neil Young

Please Be With Me - Eric Clapton

Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix

of course I could start all over, list none of the above and come up with a list just as good according to my own likes and such....

Double albums are generally a bore for me. I never listen to them all in one sitting. The closest to perfection would be Physical Graffiti, but about half of that album is actually leftover tracks from other sessions.

I agree. The near perfect albums I can think of run around 40 minutes and always leave me wanting for more.

Keep it short, keep it simple.

About 95% of Nat's album would do the trick for me as well...Except I'd sub "Slip inside this house" for about 3 other tracks...Oh listening to that song once every thirty minutes or so would be just fine with me..yes it would.
