Anyone else planning on going? Sounds like my idea of hell on earth. I might go if someone paid ME $400 a day. But probably not. Seriously, I went to a lot of festivals over the years. The smaller the festival, the more likely it was to be fun. The old Long Beach Banjo & Fiddle and Blues festivals were often brilliant. And you could actually SEE the artists (many of whom were big names in their fields, which, admittedly, as time went on, tended to slop over outside the bounds of the titular genres, but were still often worth seeing, purist concerns notwithstanding). But the bigger festivals... mostly ugh. Sure, you'd see a crapload of bands, but they'd all run together. And then... gawsh... the people at those big, mainstream festivals. One's fellow fans. OMG. On their website, they state that they are anticipating that as many as 70,000 people may attend. That's at the same time. Not spread out over two or three days. Or to put it another way, that's like taking about three and a half really large arenas of people and putting them out in the desert to watch these bands. I go to things like Reggae on the River (in Northern California) or other festivals, and those are much smaller, and really, a whole lot of fun. And I think I'm done with them. All those acts will bring their A game...Not that you can rely on Dylan being anything but the Dylan he feels like on that day. But I agree in general to what I think are mostly baby boomer sentiments. I've come to feel that at some point in seating capacity, it becomes more of a spectacle than a concert. Despite what they said, there is NO admission fee to the Harmony Central offices. We'll get it back for you. Anyway, the only festival I ever went to was the Us Festival, Woz's thing. U2, the Clash, Missing Persons, the Pretenders, and other 80s groups...we did the smart thing and rented an RV, parked in the parking lot, and just stayed there. I'm glad I went so I can say "I've been to a festival" but have no interest in a repeat. However I bet a lot of potential attendees will be swayed by the free cane offer for the first 10,000 people, and the free hearing aid fitting booths. Also all the food trucks will be offering senior specials, and the promoters have promised that the festival will end at 9 PM sharp. What I don't understand is why Geezer Butler isn't playing there. Moderators daddymack Posted May 7, 2016 Moderators Share Posted May 7, 2016 On the plus side, they will save on the porta-potties, since most of the people there will be wearing Depends...and I'll wager that AARP, Metamucil, Activia, Viagra, Aleve, Sunsweet, Aracept and a slew of other sponsors will be handing out free samples... and it wasn't Trixie or Heather...I'm a tad too experienced for that...it was Dendy...oh, you want to to see the office? $ {cha-ching} See Anderton? $${cha-ching-ching} Exit to the parking lot? $$$$...Is that an HC provided Cube unit, or his?...and, good lord, is everything in Na$hville like that?
