I had a professional recording experience yesterday

Woo Hoo! My partner in musical crime, Judge Rand Rubin, won 8 hours of recording time at Robby Kreiger's Horse Latitudes recording studio, in a silent charitable auction last year. We put a band together and recorded yesterday. Probably the only time I'll be in a professional studio.

Cool!

Is 'Judge' an honorific or a first name?

I ask because I have an old musical pal who is now a municipal judge, and, happily, seems to be making a discreet return to singing and playing (mostly singing, she's got a rich, warm alto). I've been enjoying informal vids of her and her current play mates shot at parties. I love it when people who've taken their shot at the music biz keep their love of music, even after they've moved on to other everyday work. But I hate it when folks get so burned out and discouraged and disgusted with the music biz that they give up making music entirely.

He's officially retired, but he's still doing judge stuff about 15 days a month.

The most notable trials he's had, as far as I know, are the Courtney Love drug trial - http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-ap-courtney-love-story.html

and the Viens trial. He's the chief that back in 2009, killed his wife, then cooked her body for 4 days. http://articles.latimes.com/2013/mar/22/local/la-me-ln-chef-killed-wife-sentenced-20130322
