I remember getting one limited-time-free wavetable set (Eventide Omnisphere) that required me to get an iLok account (but not an actual iLok) and between the two of them, I think I was downloading and installing and setting up most of an afternoon. And then I never used it once. I did enter the FREEDS code, copy-pasted straight in; tried it a couple times. But it's certainly no big deal, I have more synths than I know what to do with at this point. It was one thing when I was all electro and postmodern here 15-20 odd years ago... but now that I've retreated to neo-folk/bluegrass/Americana for the most part, I'm finding much less need for the grindy/squeegy/growling synth sounds I used to gravitate to. That is what pulled down my ethernet, but wireless still worked for some reason. ALTOGETHER YOU WILL NEED 4 PACKAGES TO RUN THIS..SYNSATIONS, ILOK, UVI WORKSTATION AND ANTI-PIRACY PROGRAM #2 . It will let you download the last 3, but the one you went for in the first place is unavailable now......for some strange reason????? (is this just bait?) After more than 60 hours of downloading (using the recommended FREE DOWNLOAD MANAGER) Winrar won't extract. After only 5% into the extraction process, there is a checksum error. I only have a 5 mbps DSL pipe here. If you have a faster pipeline , you might get this without a gliche but they are limiting bandwidth from the server........Cutting to the chase...... SO I GOT THE WHOLE THING. How? Using a LINUX Command Line thing called aria2 . With aria2 , I was able to open 16 ports on the server to speed the process up 16X. The whole thing came down in 4 hours. Command line cludgy you say? The command line told me EXACTLY the max number of ports that that could be opened simultaneosly...(because I tried 20 and it told me 16) FREE DOWNLOAD MANAGER let me think that I could open 20 and then started closing ports until the file was trickling down at 15 kbps . https://aria2.github.io/ So the bottom line. How does it sound? It sounds very good, but I don't have time yet to go through the whole 10gb of sounds. I like the DS1 pads. I heard a few there that I hadn't heard before.
