I think people just flipped the Auto-Tune switch and assumed it was fixed. (But maybe that's how it would look if you somehow could do all the tweaking necessary in a typical offline tuning job in realtime.) Set and forget A-T: at least that's what a lot of the first dozen years of this century sounded like, anyhow. I'm so delighted that obvious tuning seems to be fading. Now if we could get rid of 'vintage preamp/compressor' abuse. I am SO sick of everyone's vocals sounding like they just came through a pizza roller.
