Members Rudolf von Hagenwil
Bruce tried to upload some data to my ftp server but it doesn't work. Download works fine for him. but not upload. As soon he drags data on ftp site he gets an error message that he is not authorized to do that. It seems that his internet browser on the Mac doesn't permit upload. Any idea? .

Members DigitMus
CyberDuck is a great free (well, nag-ware, a little dialog pops up until you donate) FTP client. Easy as all heck to use, too. Scott
Members offramp
Another vote for CyberDuck. You can disable the nag box, although it'll reappear whenever you update the software. Then, you simply check the box again. Or you could send them $20, which would be cool.
Members Rudolf von Hagenwil
Can I PM any of you the ftp adress, and he tries to upload a test file with the standard Mac internet browser? Or I have to guide Bruce thru the setup for CyberDuck, that could be difficult for me since I have no Mac at home. .
Members alcohol
I know this sounds strange but it works for me. With my FTP site, I've been following this sequence - trying to upload, then quiting Fetch, then relaunching Fetch and the upload works. Doesn't make any sense but it has been working like that for me and another person I know.
Members spokenward
If he is running 10.4, Cyberduck has an upload widget. It is simple and is probably the best tool for the job. He can download it here:http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/networking_security/cyberduckupload.html this page has detailed help:http://cyberduck.ch/help/en/howto/widget.html Something tells me that he is not running 10.4.n
Members Rudolf von Hagenwil
Thanks! The upload widget would be a good tool, but... Bruce has this Cyberduck installer: http://cyberduck.ch/Download2.8 (Sept-10-2007)Cyberduck-2.8.dmg (9.2M He couldn't install "Cyberduck-2.8.dmg." I was not able to help him, the help manual d
Members spokenward
The *.dmg is just a packaged "disk image" installer. If 2.8 does not install it may be incompatible with the OS that he is running. (from their Changelog - 2.3.3 was the last version to run on 10.2 Cyberduck 2.5 requires 10.3.9 or later.) You can identify the OS version with the "About this Mac" selection in the {APPLE} menu. Macs can handle ftp from a terminal window without any additional software using commands like this: I have a systems running 10.4.10 and 10.2.8. PM me if I can help. Members Rudolf von Hagenwil
I think Bruce is on 10.3.2 on a G4. I don't know what a "terminal window" is. Will PM you the ftp adress and login in a second, and you please explain me, respectively him, how he can login. .
