  • What's your fav web-store for finding used CDs?

    Hello wise SSS'ers,

I buy local when I can, but I'm not having any luck finding some gems to replace my ole cassettes and LPs (eg, Husker Du, Robyn Hitchcock). Of course, I can get virtually anything as a download, but I like having the liner notes and art and such.

I've looked at a few sites, and www.spun.com looks the best to me. Here's others that just didn't seem to cut it:
    www.secondspin.com
    www.thecdexchange.com
    ebay.com
    amazon.com

Anyone like to share they're fav spot to shop?

    Thanks for your advice!

Don't know about CDs, but for books nothing beats betterworld.com.
$3.48 most books with free shipping. I've stocked up on Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett a while ago.

Hands down, Aquarius Music. The greatest store in the world.

After that, Amazon, just for their sheer size, if nothing else. But Aquarius Records takes it. Great people, great selection, sound samples on the website, the whole bit.

        Thanks, Ken!

They didn't quite have what I was looking for, but the SF nostalgia was appreciated - I used to go in there all the time!

They appeal very much to the eclectic, adventurous sort, and are not comprehensive. But what a fantastic store!!!

I get a bunch from the used section of Amazon.com. Merchants have to agree to set rates for shipping and that helps to beat the prices usually found on eBay. It doesn't do any good to find a CD for 5 dollars when they want 6 dollars for shipping. That is why I don't buy more from eBay.

Oooh, good thread! I have a strange desire to collect some ELO disks, and maybe this is how to find them? I had a good friend who died young, and often experience fond memories of visiting him with ELO playing on his cheap speakers.

Yesterday I heard a news story on how CDs are now collectibles, like LPs. Some guy who wrote a price guide was taking calls on the radio and telling folks how much their old CDs were worth .
