Members Ernest Buckley
Looking into getting a 25 key keyboard controller. Considering the Novation stuff. They seem to be getting great reviews. Will need it to work with Live and Reason mostly. What are you using? What are you results? Thanks,EB
Members Anderton
I just reviewed the XioSynth 25 for EQ. Probably its standout feature is that it can serve as a synthesizer (play it into the host, like an audio track; you can record MIDI simultaneously if you want to edit), a control surface, a "hybrid" mode where you can play synth but still have controller functions, and an audio interface. It doesn't ship with an ASIO driver but you can grab one from their web site. The one I use is the Line 6 KB37. It doesn't make sounds, but I like the guitar and vocal processing software. Members Anderton
BTW my Keyboard review of the KB37 is at:http://www.keyboardmag.com/article/line-6-toneport/jun-07/29108 I just re-read it and wouldn't change anything, pro or con. Members Ernest Buckley
Hi Craig,Thanks for the link. Besides needing aftertouch, I`m not a big fan of Line 6. Aside from all that, the VU meters cheapen the unit for me. EB

EB I think you're going to have a hard time finding aftertouch on any of these compact units, although there's an Edirol model (don't recall the model offhand) with aftertouch. Personally, I like the analog meters -- takes me back to the days of the Portastudio
Members Ernest Buckley
I have to check the Novations, I really enjoy the aftertouch features but I don`t want to spend more than a couple of $$$.
Members Frantag
I'll put in a cheer for the Novation ReMote 25 SL. It features automap and nice backlights along with aftertouch.
Members Ernest Buckley
Yes, I just checked the Novation site and the Remote 25 SL does have aftertouch! I was leaning towards this unit and now it looks like a definite homerun for what I`m doing.
Members Ernest Buckley
I ordered the Novation from Sweetwater. Looking forward to it. After about a week of research, it seems to make the most sense for my needs. Peace,EB
