Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock,...

You know, I can remember when the CMI and Synclavier were the big bad boys, and you couldn't do anything but dream about that level of power because of the price tags. And yet when you see it now, it looks almost simple and quaint... and today, 13 year olds can now afford more powerful stuff than those once-coveted, yet unobtainable gear items just by saving up their allowance money and delivering newspapers over the summer.

I wonder what the next twenty years will bring us?

Holographic recordings.

But then, five years after they're introduced, mastering engineers, in order to make sure that their holographic recordings are heard first, are going to have them retina-searing bright and flashy and unbelievably loud.

Engineers will start complaining, and them some of the holographic-buying public will start noticing that using their Holo-iPods (which are now the size of the head of a pin) is seriously fatiguing. Eventually, kids will start discovering MP3s of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin and start pining for the days in which music didn't blind their eyes.
