Members chipmcdonald
The budget is $900. We're a Beatles tribute band, comprised of 7 people. lead singer2 guitar players (1 sings),bass playerdrummer (sings)keyboard player (sings)samples/percussionist/horn/"etc." So in essence, 4 singers. We have mics. ----------------------- ISSUES: 1) We need a practice p.a.; 2) We mostly play medium sized (500-900 seat) theatres, but sometimes smaller ones with sketchy/no monitors, so it needs to be able to do double duty for that application; 3) The keyboard player does not have an amp; 4) The drummer has his own in-ear system. Effectively we need a monitor for each of the 4 singers. Everyone in the band has their own angles: Discrete 4 channel arrangement;All-in ear arrangement;2 channel+4 wedges arrangement;"other". .. and it's sort of been gridlocked. So I'm asking for an outside, unfettered/unbiased opinion. ----------------------------------------------------- What would YOU do....? $900:

Members philbo
It'll be pretty hard to buy wedges plus power amps for 4 people for $900, unless you shop for used stuff. If you decide to use 1 or 2 amps for the wedges, be sure to get all the same make & model so the volume is about the same for all the wedges. For about twice your budget you could pick up 4 used JBL Eons, or one of those Bose 'stick' PAs. Either would solve your issues nicely.
Members gang twanger
If you're going to buy new, you should try the Carvin catalog. Great reviews and they sell direct so you pay 1/2 the price of music store stuff. Zappa swore by them and you know how serious he was about his P.A and recording equipment. Their stuff holds up on the road and lasts forever.
