Members dani123
I am looking for a hand held recorder to place next to my piano while I practice.I would like to hook it up to my computer for downloading, and need a good quality sound. Members UstadKhanAli
M-Audio makes 'em with good quality audio. We use a couple of these for recordings in the field and interviews for The Tibet Connection, a radio show in English about all sorts of Tibetan issues. They do a really good job and seem reliable. If you want higher fidelity, Korg makes a $799 one that uses 1-bit technology.
Members Frantag
I recently bought a Zoom H2 for the same purpose. It works very well. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/H2/

Members amplayer
If $499 is in your budget, I highly suggest the Sony PCM-D50 Portable Linear PCM Digital Recorder.
