Members MDLMUSIC
Craig, Any idea where I could get plans to build an electronic bagpipe? I know there are a few commercial electronic bagpipes out there but they're all upwards of $300. I'm much too frugal (I almost said Scotch) to pay that much if there is a viable alternative. I have a Great Highland Bagpipe that I bought really cheap, but it's basically unplayable. I'd like to convert it to an electronic unit that I could use to perform at weddings, funerals, etc. I'm thinking of a hand-held flute/recorder/chanter type unit that is fingered like a recorder. I'd also need some kind of drone unit. Ideally I'd like to house the whole thing in the regular bagpipe bag with a built in amplifier/speaker so it could be played solo outside without having to plug into a PA system or a computer, and the audience would still get the visual and audio effect of someone really playing the bagpipes (without me having a coronary trying to keep that leaky bag full of air). Can anybody offer any help or suggestions?
