Members UstadKhanAli
Let's discuss Cleveland. Best restaurants, something delicious and unique? What do you suggest? Maybe other cool stuff to do? I'm gonna be there briefly on 5-7 August (Fri night, Saturday, leaving Sun morning), primarily to visit the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame with some friends from West Virginia. And who lives around the area?

As you say, very friendly, not pretentious. That's a damn good start.

Members Jimbroni
In east cleveland, there is a part of town known as coventry. I think because the name of the street was coventry, if I remember right. Either way, kinda of a punky hipster hang out part of town, coffee shops, street music, and bars with local bands.. Reminds me of Cass Corridor in Detroit. I dunno last time I was there was in 98 so I have no idea if that scene is still happenin. Cuyahoga River park and the erie canal have some interesting sites. Then theres always, the football HOF in Canton.

Members CalfeeJones
Any idea where you're staying? There is a weekly paper that lists most of whats going on. You can reach it online at http://www.clevescene.com. Looks like Sat Aug 6 Bob Dylan and Leon Russel are playing in the Flats (an area of bars and music places sort like 6th in Austin or Beale in Memphis but much smaller) at Jacobs Pavillion, Eric Johnson is playing at the Beachland Ballroom - a small sorta 300 person place. On Friday Aug 5 Iris Dement, Orla Fallon, Morris Day and the Time with Cameo and the Zapp band, and O.A.R. are all at different venues around the area. The Cleveland Scene should help you figure something out.
Members UstadKhanAli
Hey, good to "see" you!! My girlfriend booked the hotel, and it's apparently really close to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I passed all this along, including the link. Sounds like a great suggestion. This'll be the third trip this summer...a lot of fun. BTW, I'm finishing up my website to the Atacama Desert in Chile, if you wanna check it out. And I'm still working on my photos of Northern California, so that'll be a little while. MORRIS DAY!!!!!
Members russrags
Dag Nabbit, I've never been there either, and would love to drive up and meet you there. It's not that far from Nashville I don't think, I've got another commitment in Arkansas around then. Can't wait to see your pictures, have fun. Looks like Sat Aug 6 Bob Dylan and Leon Russel are playing in the Flats (an area of bars and music places sort like 6th in Austin or Beale in Memphis but much smaller) at Jacobs Pavillion. I do a once in a while appearance on a radio show here talking about some of the bands that I have recorded in the past (be it local here in Florida or from my days in Minnesota). Not being a musician makes recording projects and interviewing some of the members of the bands the topic of the show. The on air host has wanted for MANY years to interview Bob Dylan (appears to be his favorite musician) on the show, and, of course, it has never happened. If there is a way, which I seriously doubt, somehow contact Dylan and have him contact me so that I can get him on the air locally here. It would be great fun to present this to the on air guy. Being from Minneapolis, I met his brother several times, but never met Bob. That would be fun too. By the way, Aug 6 is the day after my birthday. Bob could feel free to get to me to wish happy birthday. My phone number is at my website below.
Members raagam
Former resident of Ohio here; it is a great place, with many cool people and interesting places. One of my favorite restaurants on the east side of Cleveland is Tommy's:http://www.tommyscoventry.com/; http://www.yelp.com/biz/tommys-cleveland-heights As mentioned above, Coventry is an area with some interesting shops (vinyl at Record Revolution, Asian-flavored curios at http://citybuddha.com/) and galleries. Tommy's is here, too. If you want to check out a museum, you can't go wrong with the world-class Cleveland Museum of Art, http://www.clevelandart.org/. There are many places for hiking, check out the "trails" section of the Cleveland Metro Parks site, at http://www.clemetparks.com/. There is a great market on the west side, called the West Side Market, http://www.westsidemarket.org/. We always bring home some Great Lakes beer, since it's really good, and not available around here: http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/ Have a great trip! Members Richard King
I lived outside Cincinnati from the age of 4-8. I recall much about the small town (Mariemont), but, not as an adult. I haven't a clue as to what was going on there, other than the once in a while day to see the Reds play.

Its pretty damn close to the Hall of Fame and the Browns stadium. We stayed there once and it was o.k. I personally wouldnt stay there again. Kind of scarey at night, but I live in farm country where the deer and the antelope play, so any town bigger than 10,000 scares me
Members SoundWrangler
Great Lakes Brewing (already mentioned in a previous post) not only has a great brew restaurant (upscale from standard pub fare and the prices reflect that, but well worth it) that usually has some beers on tap that they don't regularly bottle and ship, but they also do brewery tours right around the corner (ask the ma
