Members techristian
I have a sub forum for 8 bit musicians. It is a place where you can discuss 8 bit sound tools and devices without being laughed at. I know it is on the edge of the IP universe, in a remote place that few venture, but here is the wormhole for you to find it. http://teachmedrums.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?board=7.0 Dan BTW just recently my son-in-law has gotten interested in "chip music" or "chip sound" as he calls it. This can also be accomplished with Arduino devices or even the crudest of 1 bit hardware.

Members electrochrisso
Hey Dan, I still have my Ensoniq Mirage DSK, 8 bit sampler, with a whopping 128kb of memory, I wonder if it still works.
Members Sir Cecil Figg
Still using my 8-bit Kawai K1 string pad. I've been using it for 22 years. It's on almost everything I record. I can't get that string sound from newer synths. But I'm probably going to sample it one of these days.
Members techristian
I have been told by one of my "followers" , that I could be rich in Europe , especially Eastern Europe with this thing. I confess though, that I put it away in my closet for over 25 years before getting back into it last year. The new movement is toward Nintendo like sounds...which Fastfingers can accomplish, but my mission back in the 80's was to produce a quality lead synth, much like a Moog or Arp of that time. That's why I use all 3 oscillators to to produce each sound. Dan

He bought my old "multichannel" Mirage and he wrote some articles in that old magazine. Dan
Members dsc
I saw Dan mentioned Nintendo sounds, and I thought it might be safe to mention our synthboy+ project that we have worked really hard on. Josh Felice and I (Chris Blarsky) have been working on a Gameboy dock for musicians. We use software that was created by Timothy Lamb called mGB. It has 5 midi channels. The first four are the actual sound channels and the fifth is a hybrid polyphony channel that allows three note chords across the first three channels. Here is a screen shot. Here is a link to a youtube vid for more detailed info. http://youtu.be/TxZ4J6cj8-A Our dock allows basic access to the usual connections. We figured if we could make a professional interface for the Gameboy, that more musicians might get interested in the possibilities. Normally these gaming systems are pretty noisy, so we worked very hard to make the noise floor as low as possible. Curious if there would be any interest in our concept here.
