Members Jazz+
I need custom molded in ear monitors. I don't require wireless but I do need custom molded plugs. I haven't found too much information on these in order to compare these. Westone ES3, ES2, or ES1http://www.westone.com/content/21.html Etymotic Research ER serieshttp://www.etymotic.com/ Ultimate Ears UE-10 Pro,http://www.ultimateears.com/UE-10_PRO.htm Sensaphonics ProPhonic Soft 2Xhttp://www.sensaphonics.com/soft2x.html Future Sonics MG4,http://www.futuresonics.com/html/products.html More info athttp://www4.head-fi.org/forums/index.php? Members gearmike
Here's the super-quick low down... Westone ES3, ES2, or ES1 Hard Plastic, can become iritating after long use. If not seated properly can leak ambience...some mouth movement can cause leakage...ES3's sound very forward in the mids, ES2's more bass heavy, ES1's band limitted, little top and very little bottom... Etymotic Research ER series Not custom molded...silicone sleeves feel better than the foams, more Hi-Fi sounding, not as loud or durable as FuturSonic or UltimateEars... Ultimate Ears UE-10 Pro, Hard Plastic, same issues as Westone. Very nice sounding, three way design, one of the best out there...UE-11 has additional bass driver for serious low end... Sensaphonics ProPhonic Soft 2X-S Soft Silicone, most comfortable, best fit, no ambiance leakage with mouth movement. Nice Hi-Fi sound, but will not get as loud as UE's or FutureSonics...my favorite in terms of comfort and overall sound... Future Sonics MG4, Hard Plastic, same issues as Westone. Very nice sounding, single driver design...great overall neutral sound... **For those of you who don't know I've been a professional touring monitor mixer for over 10 years and have used just about every monitoring system out there... Any experience with the newer "3D Active Ambient" Sensaphonic IEMs?? Apparently they have built in mics that let you mix in ambient sound to hear the crowd or whatever without having to take them out of your ears. Members gearmike
I've heard the demo on the trade show floor. Very cool. So cool I almost want to wear it all the time...imagine being able to control how loud your environment is...
Members Jazz+
The Westones are now using soft plastic on the insert portion and hard plastic for the outside wall.

Members bezjones
Does anyone have an opinion on the Westone ER-series with the T15 Modular monitors in them? I'm looking for moulded filters (after 4 good years of use, mine have just broke) that can also interchange with a driver so as to be used as IEMs. Does anyone know of any other options that are out there? You can get custom molds for the Etys. And I prefer the foam sleeves over the silicone sleeves, particularly since they changed the formula for the foam from the original. They're a bit softer now. Also, Comply Foam offers replacement sleeves for many in-ear monitors, and they're very comfortable. The Etymotic ER4s sound fantastic, but might not be suitable for on-stage work since their cable noise is worse than others.
Members JasonATWR
Hi everyone, I know this isn't exactly the best place to ask but I'm new to HC and I couldn't find a "Start new discussion" so I'll ask here. I'm ordering a set of AlClair's:http://www.alclair.com/products/monitors/alclair-duals/I'm not sure what the procedure is because I wanted a set of custom molds, but AlClair doesn't ask you to send in your ear molds. What are the steps needed to take to get a pair of custom molded monitors? I'm a singer in an indie band and I switch from Singing to Trumpet whilst playing piano or acoustic guitar. They seem to be the cheepest best overall option. My budget is currently 200 and the AcClairs are 250. Any reccomendations for a cheaper but still reliable set of custom monitors? Thanks!
