Every write a lyric and wonder where it came from?

Or what it means?

Heres a lyric I wrote when I was 16...

"I`m saving my razors for the next world war..."

and another from the same time...

"If theres one thing certain of the future, the future is uncertain."

and one when I was 35 that I still use in my signature...

"Where stone meets sky, we realize, love is the only destination..."

Working on the CD booklet for my next record and this one threw me for a loop...

"I`m building a bomb to drop love on you"

How about you?

One of mine was:

Unknown crying child, starved pavement reeks

Sewer rat scurries, mankind's temple seeks

Nice! Thats what I`m talking about. What the heck does it mean? Any ideas?

"Mankind`s temple seeks".... like that a lot.

Mark,

Your four line chorus really runs the spectrum for me, I think its part of the reason I like your tunes so much. You have a way of saying a lot with a little. I especially like the "Green Day on the tv" reference. Do you recall when you wrote those lines or what inspired you?

Back in 2005 I was watching an interview with Diane Sawyer interviewing Terri Hatcher... Hatcher was commenting on relationships and how she hoped they would fix the broken part of her... that line alone made me grab my guitar and write an entire song....

Broken Part (2005)

You`re not always patient, You`re not always kind

You`ve got warts and scars and blemishes, You`ve got so much to hide

And when you take off your makeup, It`s your face I recognize

When you`re pissed, you stay quiet, Put your folk down when you`re done

And still you give me hope

Yeah you make me feel

You can fix that Broken Part of me

You can fix that Broken Part of me

It

Some nice lyrics in this thread, gentlemen :)

Regarding 'Black Market Daydreams, Ernest, I knew a guy a while back who saw songs as colours. He'd say things like 'This song is a red song' or 'that song is a green song'. It intrigued me and I was inspired to write a song using colours

By the way, the middle 8 goes 'The future's bright, the future's a combination of red and yellow'. Explanation: There's a mobile phone service provider in the UK called 'Orange'. Their slogan used to be 'The future's bright, the future's orange'. I kind of borrowed it, but changed it so as not to infringe copyright ;)
