I have a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier and I'm having some noise problems with it. To start off, these problems occur with multiple guitars, multiple cables, and multiple power sources (different venues). My first assumption is that it needs re-tubing, because I haven't done that in around 5 years, but I wanted to check here first. One thing I've noticed is that, on the distorted channel, the noise only occurs when I plug a cable in. When nothing is plugged into the input on the amp, it's completely silent. That makes me wonder if the input jack may be going bad on it? I'm not super knowledgeable as far as the technical side of equipment goes so I'll make the questions as direct as possible.
If I have dirty/bad tubes, will I not have noise even when the instrument cable isn't plugged in?
If it is in fact a bad input jack, will I have noise on the clean channel as well? (currently have no noise)
Thanks in advance!
