      What the fock mon'!

you may no longer talk bad about your own music or efforts. Never call your own stoff crop ehh "crap" ahh yas!

even if it is crap you don't say it or write that you or your stoff is crap or crap-like.

they's plenties of folkeses that'll do that for you all the live long day. and they will. you should avoid running you'sef' down.

one should strive to never be self hurtful in any degree but especially about your ART.

It could be crap and still be art. I mean a 90 thousand year old piece of petrified shark **************** mounted on a piece of wood is art.

      Art "is".

you own your tunes, tuckmon'. so stand by 'em all the way ever day and ever night.

arell'mon, chill'mon... those were not words of discouragement, but to the contrary. It's a way of reminding myself of where I'm at music wise and how far I feel I need to go.. fo' shizzle.

Real rough demo sketches of my duo, "Fibber McGee"...

              To preface...

We hadn't seen each other in over a month. Last Thursday we got together to brush up for the Blayney's gig. I used a couple of 57s on vocals and plugged my acoustic right into the board. It sounded predictable. Molly's voice came out pretty strong, but in a couple, for some dumb reason, my voice was buried (I was as loud as she was through our monitors). Go figure. So I added another mic'ed guitar track (to offset the brittle sound of the Piezo) and reinforced my voice with an overdub.

We were basically messing around with these cover tunes, this is what came out, warts and all.

I liked the songs a lot, but I felt like the production lacked the sort of "sheen" that I associate with that style.

It seemed somewhere in the middle where it couldn't choose between going with really rough-edge 60's soul sound (say, Wilson Pickett) and modern, glossy smooth R&B.

When I was working for other folks, I labored to deliver the best technical recordings I could. But that stuff never really made much difference to me, personally. Some of my favorite records are a mess, technically.

White Collar Army are a 4-piece indie/alt.rock outfit, in which I play guitar and sing backing vocals. For anyone local, we're playing Junktion 7 in Nottingham next Friday, 12th May.

Kerfuffle are a 4-piece folk band, playing traditional and contemporary material from all over Europe.

Comments on both are most welcome.
