Members mbfrancis
Well it's 9:30pm in California and no one's started a thread yet so here goes. Old 97s. "Fight Songs" was the soundtrack to my honeymoon, driving around the southwest of Ireland. Rhett Miller was just on WTF w/ Marc Maron and said he'd been listening to a lot of Belle & Sebastian at the time, which makes sense. Apparently the label asked him if he could be less "sophisticated." Maybe: It was a lonely holidayI was alone, you were awayIn Fayetteville or in another stateThere's so many towns I hate When you leave me, it breaks me like a boneBut it's never as bad as when you come homeI've thought so much about suicideParts of me have already died

Lots of folks don't seem to dig his lazy vocal style but I just love his sound and his writing. His solo lbum, The Instigator, produced by Jon Brion, is really good.
