  • RIP Elaine Stritch, a Great Broadway Broad

“Good Vibrations” was probably a good record but who's to know? You had to play it about 90 bloody times to even hear what they were singing about. What’s next? Rock opera? —Pete Townshend, Melody Maker Interview, 1966.

A great gal. I first became aware of her in a film entitled, 'Providence' released in the late 70's'
And then a bit later in a Woody Allen film - I think it was 'September'.
It's sad to be losing all these great people as time ticks on.

A fine actress. I saw her only recently in one of the two Law & Order episodes where she played a crusading women's rights attorney with characteristic passion for the role. But, obviously, her real life's work was the stage.

      RIP, Ms Stritch.
