• desert island records: your top ten

you know the drill; if you were stranded . . . blah, blah, blah, what ten records would you take to listen to?

this is tough:
1--stevie wonder - songs in the key of life
2--miles davis - four and more
3--beatles - white album
4--tool - undertow (i love this album)
5--radiohead - kid A -- maybe OK Computer, too. (that might be 6)
6--
7--
8--
9--
10--

i'll keep thinking. i am very curious to see what's going to come up in here.

**************** we've got some good taste here. Two of mine have already made the list. In no particular order--

1. Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life
2. The Band, The Band
3. Public Enemy, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
4. Curtis Mayfield, Superfly Soundtrack
5. Aretha Franklin, I Never Loved a Man the Way that I Love You
6. Elvis Costello, My Aim is True
7. Randy Newman, Sail Away
8. Paul Simon, There Goes Rhymin' Simon
9. Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers
10. The Beatles, Rubber Soul

I'm in the middle of a move, so I don't have my records or CDs around for inspiration, but I wouldn't mind eating coconuts and soaking in the above records for a few years.

if i had a chance to be completely alone and isolate myself from the human society, i would most probably would embrace and enjoy that total solitude, which means bringing no cd's to listen to, no books to read etc. i'd be very interested in what kind of stuff i would create in that kind of totally secluded situation.

which never happens in real life though... you'd either have to be extremely rich (stranded by choice) or unfortunate (cast-away scenario).

Being of the younger generation some of those cds I have no interest in whatsoever =P. My list is somewhat different.

I can't think up 10, but I have a few that are 100% requirements

1) U2 - Joshua Tree
2) Metallica - Black
3) Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil (I am addicted to this album, despite the old ones having better instrumentals)
4) Foo Fighters - Color and the Shape (the double album - does this count as 2?)
5) Bumblefoot - Normal

I'm gonna think up 5 more if I can, but those albums are awesome.

Guitar - $500, Amp - $300, Strings - $8, Having your neighbor knock on your door and tell you his house is shaking - priceless.
Hmmm. this is too hard well this is the best I could do. I'd prolly have to throw in some AC/DC, Poison, ZZ-top, or Joe satriani but I'm not willing to committ to this yet.

Always interesting to do this and see how my lists change form list to list. Lets see:

1. Fashion Nugget--Cake
2. Animals--Pink Floyd
3. Bringing Down the Horse--Wallflowers
4. The Last Waltz--The Band (cheating maybe, but I don't care)
5. Lost in Space--Aimee Mann
6. Lost and Gone Forever--Guster
7. Wildflowers--Tom Petty
8. Mule Variations--Tom Waits
9. Abbey Road--The Beatles
10. Sheryl Crow--Sheryl Crow

This is so hard to do because I will think of an album and start singing a song from it, and then it's stuck in my head and I can't think f anything else...
