Hello Guys,

Here's my new track called "If Only". This track is about trying to capture the feeling about longing and wanting something really bad but coming to the realization that not everything that the heart desires is possible. It's then you want to have a hopeful attitude towards what's to come.

Would really appreciate it if you guys could check it out and let me know your views.

Also, would like to thank Siddharth for Bass/Rhythm/Production in this song.

Thanks,

Arnab

Well, this is pretty hard to judge. I like the interplay of piano and guitar until 0:40, thereafter, it drifts a little bit into pettiness (i hope this is the right word, I'm a non native speaker). At 1:18, the piano builds up a nice melody, which would be a great companion to a scene in a movie or videogame, but is a little empty for a standalone song. Then, at 2:05, i really love what happens until the end. Sounds a bit like Steve Vai, and I like Steve Vai.

Just my 2 cents. Afterall, this isn't the music I tend to listen to, so probably my opinion isn't worth that much. But at least, it's my honest opinion :)

(I'd like to be a little bit more constructive, but I've no idea what I could suggest :/ )

Hey roman2,

Thanks for checking it out, appreciate your opinion :)

I'm re-working a few details in the song as we speak. As for the melody part that begins at 1:18, I really envisioned something scenic and emotional at that part didn't want to clutter it with more things.

Besides that, guys, I'm really open to suggestions and criticism. Would really help me open up my thinking and song making process :)

Thanks!

I get the whole mood until 2:50. What I feel afterwards is different than the realization part and the beginning. maybe keep the sound of the realization part (piano + guitar) till the end but let the guitar make the most noise. err I hope that sounds correct. thats all I gotta say. you did a good job though.

The intro is off technically on one part.

If it's intentional ok, but I don't feel you

make the appropriate transition from the D minor to D major

then back to D minor, maybe try to integrate this chord: a c# e g

(Only a suggestion)

At 1:18 I hear the main melody which is nice, have you

any lyrics or an idea for the singing?

At 2:07 I hear another entirely different melody start.

I like how you did that, the song builds and goes different places.

I really really like what happens at 2:55

although I:thu:

Btw, I dig turbulence man!

What kind of guitar is that, what types of amp sims

are you running?

Guys,

Thanks for checking it out, appreciate your inputs!

I'll put up the re-worked version very shortly.

Dr.Innovation,

Hey, which part was off? can you point it out.

Glad you liked the other melodies. For the part at 1:18, I'm just going to do some ambient leads. No vocals unfortunately!

Glad you liked 'Turbulence', my first song! hehe.

and I used an Ibanez RG2550Z and GT10 for recording for 'If Only'.

and the same guitar, TC Nova System, Metal Muff, Sansamp GT2 for some rhythm and lead work on 'Turbulence' rest on GT10.

Sweet, you're first song? Pretty impressive.

I'm learning to play the guitar...just not that good yet.

My issue is that I play left handed on a right handed guitar:facepalm:

Find encouragement from the fact that it didn't stop "Jimi" by playing a right handed guitar. Power to you!!!:thu:

I like it man. The first part works better for me as I was listening to the start of it I could picture it being in a video game or something, you know like during a cinematic scene. You should check out some publishers that specialise in the gaming industry, I think it woyld work really well...
