Members muel
Anyone else writing any "Novelty Songs?" Parodies, allegedly humorous, or surrealistic lyrical wordplay? My bro Kevin and I have quite a few. Here's our ode to drinkin' songs, "The Beer I Had For Breakfast (Is Comin' Back For Lunch) (I don't drink).http://tindeck.com/listen/dyiy, . Members nat whilk II
I write songs that are hopefully amusing - like Randy Newman does or Steve Goodman did. I'll go as far as writing songs that tell a funny story or have amusing images or situations, but I don't get too goofy with them. At least I try not to. So I'm not sure that's really in the old "novelty" genre, Like "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight" and such. There was typically some novelty song on the charts back in the 60s - Flying Purple People Eater comes to mind. But I wouldn't mind writing something funny like Goodman's Talk Backwards or (whoever wrote) You Never Even Call Me By My Name or Nillsson's "The Most Beautiful World In The World." nat whilk ii

I've got a few. Mostly they're pretty awful. I mean, if you set out to write something stoopid, it's kind of a low bar...
