Members Dave Ferris
Chances are Drummer aficionados have never seen one of these sets. They were made for only two years. 1978-79. Rare in any size and ever rarer in the 18/12/14 bop sizes. Six ply American maple shells made in Bensalem, PA. at the Hoshino factory. (Tamas parent company) They're still making instruments at the factory today. Tama had purchased the bankrupt Camco Drum Co. and produced these high end kits for only a few years to compete with top end Ludwig, Gretsch, and Slingerland kits of the day. Elvin Jones endorsed and played these kits during this time. A matched factory set with original inlay finish. Not a stencil. These high end drums sound fantastic, even with the original 30 year old heads. No re-rings as the 6 plys from the era were thick enough to keep them in round and the edges true. Shells look virtually new inside and out. Minimum tom and BD pedal rash. A personal side note--Joe La Barbera (Bill Evans' last drummer) came to my studio to jam in the early '90s, saw the drums and about fell over..."man where did you get those ?! You've got my drums"! There were only a few of these made, I remember him saying. Basically I bought these in the early 90's for guys to play on at jam sessions in my studio. They've gone unused the last 10 years or so. I gave them to a drummer friend of mine who cleaned them up, took the pics, did some research and gave me the detailed info at the top. http://www.divshare.com/download/15504363-b1chttp://www.divshare.com/download/15504319-d74 http://www.divshare.com/download/15504371-d5f http://www.divshare.com/download/15504375-b86 Price is $2800. Prefer local LA area pickup but will consider ship to lower 48. Buyer pays all shipping and insurance. Will trade for high quality mic preamps such as DW Fearn VT-2, API 3124 mb+, Hardy M1, Forssell SMP-2 pres + cash, a pair of Martech MSS-10s + cash on my end. If you have any more specific *drum* questions I'd refer you to my friend as I'm not a drummer but a pianist..
