I originally had this amp in a combo cabinet and moved it over to a the head shell. No mods or anything were necessary as they are interchangeable. I recently replaced the tubes with GT EL84R (Sovteks) right before buying another amp, so they have very few hours on them. I also have an extra quad of power tubes to include along with an extra rectifier tube. They are not GT but just regular Sovtek EL84s. The Sovtek tubes are recommended by Jeff Bober, the original designer of the amp. The amp has not had any problems or issues at all and is in very nice shape.
