Members Dendy Jarrett
That thing has got some punch! Best bass drum I ever owned was a 1964 18X14 ludwig "jazzette" bass drum. That thing had punch for days. I called it lil cannon. D
Members Carminemw
It really does pump out! I'm digging...that tuning was very different but it does seem to work pretty well!
Members Drumstix101
Are you still thinking about the kick port?
Members Carminemw
I think I'm gonna pass on the kickport. for now. I have been told that in this situation, porting won't do much other than relieving some of the internal pressure and bounce on the head. I'm liking it as it is right now. I'm going for the punch and my bass player is going to go more towards the bottom...

Members Dendy Jarrett
Reminds me of this kit. Although this kit is a really need "self" contained minimal solution: http://odery.com/series/cafe-kit-en/

Members PHIL2016
11x14 Bass Drum on the Odery kit? That should have interesting tone and punch...
Members Carminemw
I picked up the Sonor Martini kit...toms sound great, but the 12x14 kick, just doesn't get it for me...not enough umph for my playing style. I'm gonna pick up a 12 x 20 or 14 x 20 and take the Sonor Kick, and flip it as a 2nd floor tom...
Members Dendy Jarrett
While this drum isn't miked up, I still feel like this little kick is pretty punchy [video=youtube;ZxLfkNzznM4]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxLfkNzznM4

Members Carminemw
I've heard these before...Nope it's not punchy per se...my 14 x16 blows it away as far as punch. The kick sounds tinkertoyish...sorry. The toms sound great, but the kick has no push, and tried every tuning under the sun and wide open and muffled...one head and 2 headed. It's just to small IMO...not even for jazz or bop. I beg to differ...
