Members Dendy Jarrett
Imagine working all year for Drum Corps Finals World Championships. The "Superbowl" of the Music Marching Sport, Drum & Bugle Corps activity. Keep an eye on the snare drummer on the far right of the screen. See how he remains composed, and overcomes. It didn't really affect the performance, and most warming was the crowd response. [video=youtube;L-ah1g_KGvI]
Members 1001gear
Man that's like watching the Zapruder film. Finally saw the drum come off. That guy went with the formation and the section director recovered and ran it back lol.
Members Dendy Jarrett
That was actually the DCI drumline judge that recovered the snare. Typically, they wouldn't do this, but he did indeed save the day. The crowd goes crazy when he gets his drum back. That all happened last night in the World Championships. This was the Carolina Crown performing.D

Members Dendy Jarrett
Well, turns out the guy who lost the drum was wearing a go pro. Caught the entire thing from his perspective. Funny- Judge said: You made me run!
Members SYMBOLIC
I'm going to have to share that with my buddies who use to march (blue devils early 80's and late 90's/early 2000's). They'll get a kick/relate to that.
Members 1001gear
What's the rule on you dropped your instrument? That scenario played out perfectly. Should be policy. Woulda liked to seen his face though.
Members SYMBOLIC
I had the same thought. What's more important, the part you are playing or the formation?
Members 1001gear
In those terms, the playing is multiply redundant but the marching is linear. - and by the results, he did the right thing.
Members Dendy Jarrett
If you notice the go pro cam, you can see he continues to "air" the part. That was the right thing to do. The judge could have moved it off the field and let him continue, but he did (IMHO) the right thing. You can hear the crowd roar when he hands the drum back off.The quint player was so very lucky that he didn't fall backwards over that drum. It was a close call.
