Members sherman22
I have heard about Keplinger steel snares, I know Carter Beuford plays a 13" one, always been curious about them, anybody own one or played one?
Members texdrumr
I have a 14" wood hoop Keplinger snare that is the pride of my kit... thing is a monster with an extremely complex sound. I bought it after being a huge fan of Our Lady Peace and falling in love with his snare sound. Only now do I know that he uses a metal rim Keplinger, but the drum is still awesome! Members agogobill
I have a steelhoop 14x6.5, from the first batch. It's loud, but it is also ringy, so be handy with tape. It is also likes to buzz - so be handy with de-tuning lugs. In other words, it takes some time to get a good sound. Once you do get it, it's big, fat, responsive - all the things I like in a snare. And, it's also expen$ive. For half the price, you can do better - Ludwig Supra, or Tempus fibreglass. Both of those snares tune up easy, sound just as good as (if not better than) the A-K, without the hassle.
