Members RobWild
I've been looking into (finally) making the switch from CDs to MP3s (I know, I know....I'm a little behind the times). Problem is, I have no experience in this market and don't know where to begin. So, the question: Of those of you who have MP3 players, what kind do you have, and would you recommend buying it to someone else? I'm looking for something 8GB or bigger, nothing too flashy, doesn't need to have a bunch of knick-knacks, just needs to play music. And NO Ipods allowed! :poke: I happened across this on Amazon. Anyone have/used this? You sure can't beat the price, but could that be an indication of the quality? Thanks in advance!
Members BLS_1
Get a zune. Cheaper and more reliable than an ipod. Either a 30GB or an 80GB. The things are wonderful. Had mine for over a year and i use it nearly every day, works amazing.
Members fesswrx
Zune is a good pick. I would also suggest a Creative Zen-M if you want to go on the cheap. They can be had for about 100 bucks now for a 30gig player. I have both and like them both. The Zens controls are a bit clunky until you get use to them but has better battery life than the Zune. Other than that they both sound great.
Members manoeuver
some of the Sansa players have slots for micro SD cards. that's nice. I got my wife one for decemberween, she loves it.
Members xtranoise
I have a Sansa Fuze that I like. Got mine at Christmas, think it's a 4GB but it does have MicroSD slot. They make an 8GB model I think.
Members Mogwix
Zune, or Creative Zen. I wouldn't recommend anything else. There aren't any mp3 players that impress me, they all suck. But the convenience factor is just too good to pass up.

Members Carminemw
I've had an ipod for over 6 years now. They seem to have gotten more reliable...it took me a number of return units and a bunch of bitching to apple to get a good one, but this one seems to be fine...even attaches to my bike for cruisin down the road... Members RobWild
I've got nothing against the Ipod itself, I just don't want to pay an extra $100 just because it says "Apple" on it. Ideally, I don't want to be spending much more than $100, less if possible, which is what attracted me to the Coby. But I'll definately spend a little more for a better quality gadget. But $200+ for an Ipod? No thanks.
Members RobWild
I was just checking out this Zune on Amazon, and it advertizes Zune Marketplace as the "standard" place for acquiring music. However, many reviews talk about how hard it is to use Marketplace. So, my question for those Zune users out there: is a Zune compatible with Windows Media Player? Can I just rip songs from a CD/buy from Amazon, put them on Media Player, then onto the Zune? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to know that I'm not gonna get screwed into buying something I can't use.

Members BLS_1
Yea man, rip um all and they work. The zune has its own program that "stores" your music in there. Kinda like itunes its a neat little thing that comes with it.
Members RobWild
Cool. Thanks, guys, I really appreciate the help. I'm such a noob when it comes to electronics. I'll order one in a few weeks. First I have to get a 14" AAX Studio Crash . I'm gonna be broke pretty soon.
Members 2xBass
I was looking into a zune because my current 8GB nano just isn't big enough. I know that the system for the zune is different than iTunes, does anyone know if it is easy to transfer my current songs into the Zune compatible system? Members Cross Eyed Mary
I've got an 80gb Ipod classic, i got it because it was there. I don't really see what problem people would have with it. I find a torrent or zipfile, get the album, put it in my media player of choice, and synchronize. Works like a charm, hell i finally put some porn on it tonight. Who doesn't like pr0n on the go? If a Zune would work with Realplayer, WMP, etc, i can't see why not. They all seem worth buying to me. It's like asking which snizz to pound, they're all kinda nice.

Members boxofrocks
If you use a cell phone maybe upgrade to a smart phone, then load your MP3's on an SD card. I like things that are multifunctional, I hate carrying 20 things in my pockets.
