  • Mutated Zildjian thin crash...

OK so I bought this cymbal with some very long and multi-directional cracking. When I was welding it up, I forgot to brace it properly so it warped kinda bad on the edge. I was able to complete the weld, with some difficulty, and even though this thing is hideous it actually sounds kinda neat. Sort of like a china without the "pang" and then a nice soothing white noise crash effect. Let the ridicule begin.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geOCUlGeceY

For what it's worth, I dig these pictures of your blowtorch cymbal specials!

I am using a Tig welder lol, it warped because it is very thin base metal and I failed to brace the edge properly in my JIG. It was just an oversight that was ugly yet cool sounding. I do these all the time, this was the first I forgot to lock down the edge, before I started welding lol. I'm trying to sell it on craigslist now, as an alternate china! If I had the need I would just keep it.
