Members diocide Posted January 1, 2013 Members Share Posted January 1, 2013 So I've gotten my mic collection up to snuff, and I'm pretty much ready to start doing my own demo recordings. This is going to be the first time I'm mixing and recording my own drums. My big question is what mic clips should I pick up for the snare and toms? I'm going to be using SM57's on them. I've heard the Samson, On Stage and the Audix D-Vise are junk, which leaves the Audix D-Flex. Any opinion on these? Is there another mic clip I should look at? This will be used strictly in my home studio, not getting beat on by lots of people. Given this fact, I do not want to buy crap that I will have to re-purchase after a few sessions. THoughts? Are you opposed to using actual mic stands? Sounds like you want rim or hardware monted clip devices only... I've got a number.. I think they're exactly the same as the Sennheiser clips. Just attach the mic holder for whatever mic you've got and attach it to the rim of the drum. Works good and won't break the bank.
