Members Jazz Ad
I don't know.Everytime I got a bass with crappy foam, I replaced it with nice springs. Why going the opposite way ?Just slap the piece of foa under the PU and you're done. Nothing special.
Members bassman1956
The springs replace the foam, or, the foam replaces the springs. Either way, you still need the screws.

Members stereo
You loosen the strings, remove the screws, take out the springs, keep them incase you decide you dont like the sound of your bass with the foam.Belive me you will !Cut two pieces of foam 1/2x1/2" and about 1/2" shorter than the P/U holes, raise the P/U's and slide the foam under the P/U's,reinstall the screws minus the springs, adjust the P/U height.Your bass should sound more solid due to the lack of microphonics from the vibration of the strings vibrating the springs and being picked up by the P/U's
