Members HumptyThumpty
I bought a pair of Polk Audio R10 speakers that I'm going to use for studio monitors. I want to power them with my Peavey PV260 power head. I need to make cables that go from 1/4" on the back of the Peavey to 5-way binding post on the back of the speakers. I'd like to cut one 10' 16ga speaker cable in half and solder on banana plugs, but don't want to get my polarity screwed up. You input is appreciated. Members bholder
It's not really "positive" vs. "negative", it's "signal" vs. "ground". As far as I know, tip is always signal ("positive"), ring is always ground.
Members georgestrings
Tip is nearly always positive - unless one is wiring a reverse polarity on purpose, Like I do with my QSC USA 850 power amps: they "invert" the incoming signal, so wiring the speaker outs in reverse polarity corrects that... - georgestrings
