Members mschafft
Hi everyone, I'm searching for a good combo amp to play blues and rock music (occasionnally with a Big Muff - I have two basses : a fender P Bass and an Ibanez SR800). There's a Marshall MB150 at my favourite shop. It's rattling so they want to check it. A part form that noise I liked its sound, plus it's quite affordable (600$). Any opinions on that series ? I also found an ad for a second hand Trace Elliot Combo Series 6. It's old but apparently in good condition. It's definitely good stuff, but is it mostly for funk ? Thanks for reading this thread. Have a great day, Manny
Members sunburstbasser
Those old Trace amps were among the finest amplifiers available in their day. Funk and rock players like them a lot, but the EQ on them is powerful enough that you can dial in a really nice deep blues tone without much hassle. I used mine for jazz and country a whole lot. Members Perfessor
You'll want to have a roadie to carry that Marshall!
Members mschafft
Thanks guys. I know the Marshall is heavy. The shop has much lighter combos such as Gallien Kruger, but their sound didn't appeal to me as much. Am I being too picky about these ?
