Moderators isaac42 Posted January 3, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 3, 2013 I might have a use for one. I've never used one, but I assume that I could play a note (or a line) into it, which it would then repeat indefinitely, while I play over it. Am I right? And if so, what might be good pedals to look at?
Members lz4005
There's a big difference between one note and a line. A lot of loopers aren't good at doing very short loops, ie one note. All the ones I've used have had a minimum loop length of a couple of seconds and/or a four count of whatever tap tempo you're using. If you want to sustain one note to play over something like a freeze effect might work better.
Moderators isaac42 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted January 3, 2013 I'm not familiar with a freeze effect. Haven't heard of it before. Examples?
Members lz4005
Off the top of my head there's the Electro-Harmonics Freeze Sound Retainer, Boss SYB-5 bass synth and Behringer BSY600 bass synth. I'm sure there are more. Basically they sample the note you are playing at the instant you engage the pedal and sustain it for as long as you keep the switch pressed. You can then solo over the sustained note.
