Sit down and tell us about yourself. What kind of bass do you bass? In a band? Tube versus Solid State? Do you like Rush? Wolfgang vs Michale Anthony? Moderators Lee Knight Posted May 4, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2013 I absolutely love trying to play Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1 on bass. It is a study in how to outline a chord progression, or rather, how to define one, with the single note line of bass. You can just buy the cello music and try your best. It's great fun and a hell of a work out. But it becomes clear quickly, that the tuning of the cello facilitates playing this piece a lot more than the bass does. Still... ...hearing your bass create a melody, harmonic support, and both of those developments over the course of the piece... it's just too much. James Jamerson and Paul Mc both seemed to get this kind of thinking. Highly recommended for the adventurous.
