THE PEDAL-FRIENDLY AMP WITH SELECTABLE POWER RANGES — PLUS ALL-TUBE SPRING REVERB AND TREMOLO!

Street Price from $649.99

Hayward, CAThe VHT Special 12/20RT adds tube-driven spring reverb and tube tremolo to the pedal-friendly Special 12/20 platform. The 12/20RT features two power ranges with an adjustable Watts control plus a Pentode/Triode switch, a unique preamp designed that excels with pedals, and an all-tube buffered effects loop with send and return level controls. It also features VHTs unique Depth and Texture controls, a convenient built-in 9-volt DC pedal power supply, and an international mains voltage selector switch.
To optimize the amp for a wide variety of output tubes, the VHT Special 12/20RT offers two output-power ranges.  A special voltage range switch safely located behind the rear panel provides the proper voltages for 6V6 or EL84 output tubes (in 12-watt low-voltage/low-power mode). The high voltage 20-watt setting provides the ideal voltages for higher-power 6L6 or EL34 output tubes. The 12/20RT ships with a pair of 6V6 output tubes (VHT 6V6-to-EL84 socket adapters are required for operation with EL84 tubes). In addition, the 12/20RTs variable Watts control can reduce the maximum output power to less than one watt for whisper-quiet volume levels.

The Special 12/20RTs preamp was designed to bring the most out of every effects pedal with enhanced clarity, detail and controlled tube compression. Its low-impedance buffered effects-loop send can effortlessly drive the most difficult pedals without tone or signal loss. Thanks to its variable send and return level controls, the 12/20RTs effects loop can accommodate a wide range of pedal or rack effects. The 12/20RTs Reverb, Tremolo, Depth and Texture controls are post effects loop, so multi-effects users can plug directly into the effect return and still benefit from the post-effects tube reverb and tremolo, while fine-tuning the output stage characteristics with the Depth and Texture controls.
The Special 12/20RT combo and head share the same chassis, circuit and layout design and configuration.

The 12/20RT Combo is loaded with a 12” VHT ChromeBack speaker.

The VHT Special 12/20RT combo has a Street price of $749.99; the Special 12/20RT head has a Street price of $649.99

The VHT V-Drive does it all, boldly going where no other overdrive pedal has gone before:

From clean boost to creamy-smooth sustain to raging harmonic complexity,

the new VHT V-Drive overdrive pedal's unique controls offer an amazingly

wide range of tones and textures at an awesome value. In addition to

standard Drive and Volume controls, the VHT V-Drive offers four more

unique controls:

*Select*

The V-Drive's 11-position Select switch provides ten different clipping

diode configurations plus a clean-boost diode-bypass mode. (Clipping

diodes are the heart and soul of nearly every classic overdrive pedal

design, and the type and configuration of these diodes defines the

overdrive texture and dynamic response character.)

The V-Drive's Select switch replicates the diode type and configuration

of the most popular overdrive pedals of the '80s and '90s as well as

some of today's most sought-after boutique designs. The V-Drive also

offers several new diode types and configurations for some fresh tones

for the future, enabling players to make their own unique contributions

to the advancement of the art of overdrive.

*Texture*

The V-Drive's Texture control adjusts the overdrive texture and harmonic

content. Working in conjunction with the Select switch, these two

controls provide an unprecedented range of fine-tunable overdrive

choices. Warm and smooth or bristling with harmonic activity, the choice

--- and voice --- is yours.

*Depth*

The V-Drive's unique 11-position Depth control fine-tunes the low-end

response to perfectly voice the overdrive depth to suit a wide range of

guitars, pickups, and musical styles.

*Tone*

The V-Drive's Tone knob is voiced higher than is commonly expected.

Unlike most overdrive pedals, it adjusts the treble content without

altering the midrange. The V-Drive's Tone control works in conjunction

with the Depth control to provide a wider and more useful EQ-shaping

range than conventional overdrive tone controls.

*Voltage*

The unique Voltage control uses a special voltage multiplying integrated

circuit to increase the pedal's operating voltage for a tighter,

punchier, crisper, quicker-responding and more authoritative tone ---

ordinary 9-volt pedals can't match this new level of dynamic response.

The Voltage control can also reduce the V-Drive's operating voltage to

as low as 5 volts for a softer and spongier attack.

Like a box full of pedals in one, the innovative, revolutionary --- and

surprisingly affordable --- VHT V-Drive introduces the next chapter in

the quest for the ultimate overdrive. The new VHT V-Drive pedal has a

street price of $99.99 and will be available in late May 2011.

The Special 6 is the first handwired amp to be offered for a list price below $300, and has been taking the market by storm since its release in January.

Boutique amp players will love the Special 6's combination of handwired tube goodness, unique features and unparalleled value. The mod-friendly Special 6 is easy to customize for home amp builders and tube amp enthusiasts.

The Special 6 gets its powerful tube sound from one 12AX7 preamp tube and one 6V6 output tube. It boasts a footswitchable Gain Boost feature that significantly expands its range of tones — it's the only amp in its class that excels at both clean and overdriven tones, and it's the only amp in its class to offer a footswitchable boost. With the Gain Boost, players can instantly toggle between clean rhythm tones and overdriven leads, essentially duplicating the footswitchable functions of a 2-channel amp in an all-tube, handwired, simple, 2-knob package.

To expand its range of tones, the Special 6 also features a High/Low power switch that enhances low-volume tones with extra-smooth richness (when in half-power mode). It's a great feature for recording, or for low-volume "bedroom" players. In high-power mode, it's one of the few amps in its class that is loud enough to compete with a strong drummer.

The Special 6 is available as a combo and as a head. The combo features a special high-sensitivity VHT special design 10" speaker. The Special 6 head is offered with a separate Special 1x12 speaker cabinet, featuring the player's choice of a VHT Chrome-Back 12" speaker or a premium Celestion G12H30 speaker.

The VHT Special 6 combo has a Street Price of $199.99; the Special 6 head has a Street Price of $179.99 and the 1x12" Special 6 Cabinet starts at $149.99. All three are available now.

The Lead 20 is a 20 Watt RMS 2-channel amp with separate Clean and Overdrive channels. It has reverb and a master volume. Both channels have a shared EQ. VHT engineers have carefully voiced both channels so that they can effectively share the same EQ. Between channels, the frequency response is unaffected, so no adjustment of the EQ settings is required when channel switching. The VHT Lead 20 provides 20 Watts RMS from 2 EL84 tubes, which makes it seem much louder than one would expect from a standard 20 Watt amp. The single 12" Celestion G12H30 speaker is one of the favorites of VHT engineers. It is a very well balanced speaker that sounds perfect in this amp. The guts are housed in an 11-ply birch plywood cabinet covered in classic black tolex. The VHT Lead 20 is a great sounding, versatile amp. The Clean channel stays crystalline until it is turned all the way up, when it starts to color the sound with a little grit. The Overdrive channel picks up where the Clean leaves off, allowing for a highly overdriven, crunchy sound perfect for today's modern rock music. The VHT Lead 20 lists for $1329.99 and is available now.

VHT announces the release of the Classic 6, a simple, low-wattage amp with a big sound. The Classic 6 has been carefully designed and tested in VHT's Brisbane, CA workshop. The design of the Classic 6 was inspired by stories of famous records that were recorded with a low-wattage single-ended amp that sounded gigantic. The Classic 6 is designed for players who want a sound that they can make their own. With this in mind, VHT designed the Classic 6 with a 12" VHT Special Design speaker. The amp sounds great with the stock speaker, but VHT engineers based the design on the assumption that 12" speakers are easiest to find, which allows for a broad range of customization options to reflect the player's personal taste. The signal path is uncluttered and simple, and the output transformer was designed so that the amp could be turned up loudly without getting fried. The Classic 6 has two controls, Volume and Tone, and has both high and low inputs. The preamp is a single 12AX7 tube, and the power amp is a 6V6. It's really a sweet sounding, versatile amp. If you don't drive it much, it sounds like a classic American-style tube amp, but if you crank it, it starts to break up like an old-school British amp. The tone control is also simple. It's basically a high-frequency cut, so when players open up the tone all of the way, the amp produces a lot of harmonics, and players can use the tone control to carefully adjust for the harmonics they want. This amp is as simple and straightforward as possible, so players can get as much out of their guitar as possible, and it can be used comfortably and effectively for recording, practice or small gigs. The VHT Classic 6 was specifically designed with simplicity in mind, for players who just want to plug in and sound great. It's an amp that allows players to get the most out of their amp to enhance their individual sound. The Classic 6 lists for $549.99.

VHT announces the release of the Lead 40, a powerful 2-channel all-tube amp perfect for both classic and modern overdriven tube tones. The Lead 40 has been carefully designed and tested in VHT's Brisbane, CA workshop. The Lead 40 is a powerful 40 Watt RMS 2-channel amp with separate Clean and Overdrive channels. It has reverb and a master volume. Both channels have a shared EQ. VHT engineers have carefully voiced both channels so that they can effectively share the EQ. When switching channels, the frequency response is unaffected, so no EQ adjustment should be required when channel switching. The VHT Lead 40 is based around the same design as VHT's Lead 20, with double the tubes, providing 40 Watts RMS from 4 EL84 tubes. The cabinet is fitted with one 12" Celestion G12H30 speaker and one 12" VHT Special Design speaker, deliberately chosen for their complementary sound. The Celestion's great midrange sound fits perfectly with the VHT speaker, which has been specially designed to reinforce the highs and lows of the amp. An 11-ply birch plywood cabinet covered in classic black tolex houses the chassis and speaker. The VHT Lead 40 is a loud, great sounding, versatile amp. The Clean channel stays crystalline until it is turned all the way up, when it starts to color the sound with a little grit. The Overdrive channel picks up where the Clean leaves off, allowing for a highly overdriven, crunchy sound perfect for today's modern rock music. The VHT Lead 40 lists for $1699.99 and is available now.

For guitar players looking for pure tone in a powerful head that can be paired with any cabinet, VHT is proud to announce the release of the handwired 36 Watt Head from the Standard Series line, The Standard 36. The Standard 36 Head is carefully handwired in the VHT workshop just outside of San Francisco, where experienced VHT designers oversee every step of the assembly and extensive testing. All VHT handwired amplifiers are carefully pre-tested for quality. Extensive burn-in time helps to insure excellent reliability in every amplifier we manufacture. Each Standard 36 Head is given an initial sound test before burn-in and then given a second, more extensive test after the burn-in process is completed. It is then A/B tested to make sure that each individual amp offers a consistent level of quality. The Standard 36 Head uses three 12AX7 tubes on the preamp side and four EL84 tubes for the power amp. The rectifier tube is a 5U4G. The head has a separate tone channel and TMB channel, and a master volume that controls both channels. The Standard 36 handwired tube head has a complex tone with articulate highs but adds raw power with its tight, focused lows. The overdriven tone maintains a ton of great-sounding harmonic overtones on top, but it does so without giving up any midrange or low end for the overdriven harmonic content. The relationship between the preamp and power amp is balanced in such a way that actually makes the overdriven amp seem to crunch harder despite the fact that there is more headroom. Even with the excellent clarity when overdriven, there isn't any harshness associated with the harmonic saturation, and it maintains a tight bottom end. Also, it cleans up beautifully, with a simple twist of the volume knob. The fact that The Standard 36 can maintain that level of harmonic content without sacrificing anything in the frequency range AND that it's capable of really chiming when you clean it up is indicative of the way VHT believes amplifiers should work. The Standard 36 Head has the classic American tube sound sought after by true tone connoisseurs, and has plenty of headroom for live high-volume playing. It is perfectly matched for the VHT Standard 2x12 Cabinet, or it can be paired with the cabinet of the players' choice for unlimited tone combinations. The Standard 36 Head lists for $1,899.99.

VHT is proud to announce the release of the first handwired amplifier from "The Standard Series," The Standard 12. The Standard 12 amplifier is carefully handwired in the VHT workshop just outside of San Francisco, where experienced VHT designers are looking it over every step of the way.

All VHT handwired amplifiers are carefully pre-tested for quality. Extensive burn-in time insures excellent reliability. Each amp is given an initial sound test before burn-in and then given a second, more extensive test after the burn-in process is completed. It is then A/B tested to make sure that each individual amp offers the same level of quality. The Standard 12 uses 12AX7 tubes on the preamp side and 6v6 tubes for the poweramp. The rectifier tube is a 5Y3GT. The high-grade VHT finger-jointed birch cabinet houses a 12" Celestion G12H30 speaker. All of the components of The Standard 12 were chosen to provide the ultimate in sensitivity and expressiveness to let the individual sound of each player shine through.

The Standard 12 sounds great for classic rock styles, breaking up easily as the volume knob is turned up. The Standard 12 also excels at overdriven blues sounds as it is extremely touch-sensitive and retains its chime throughout the entire volume spectrum. It does everything that a classic tweed-voiced amplifier is supposed to do. The Standard 12 has a very vocal clean tone with a powerful midrange and great headroom. Although the design goal was to capture a vintage sound, the Standard 12 doesn't "brown out" like vintage amps — the low end doesn't become loose and muddy — the 12 doesn't compress to the point where the low end gets mushy. It doesn't sacrifice a "crunchy" top end in order to gain powerful midrange, but instead maintains articulate, sugary highs throughout the volume spectrum.

The Standard 12 has that classic American amp sound with a warm tone and strong mid-range that really sings. It was specifically designed with simplicity in mind, for players who want to just plug in and sound great. The Standard 12 lists for $1,799.99 and is available now.
