Brooklyn, NY (Feb. 2, 2012) –  TuneCore, the world’s largest distributor of music, today announces a  groundbreaking agreement with simfy, one of the top music services in  Europe, that ensures TuneCore artists and songwriters will be paid for the use of their music.

The deal is groundbreaking as under the agreement, simfy will obtain the  rights to both the recordings and songs (aka the underlying  composition) represented by TuneCore and pay both sets of royalties  directly to TuneCore, as opposed to paying third party collection agencies that take significant percentages of the money and in some  cases years to pay it out. It is also a music  industry leader that pays all royalties for the music in its service.  Music fans can now choose to use simfy not only for its great experience  with access to over 16 million songs but also because simfy will pay artists and songwriters all their royalties.”

With the click of a button, any songwriter can  have songwriter music publishing administration via TuneCore’s Songwriter Service that collects money, registers  copyrights, polices rights globally and issues licenses.

Amazon, Google, and Apple have recently announced their own versions of cloud
services, that promise to free up users' digital music collections by offering
easily-accessed storage space. What do Apple's iCloud and iMatch mean for the
independent musician? How do songwriters receive public performance royalties from
cloud-based service plays? And how does TuneCore fit in? TuneCore Founder/CEO Jeff
Price and Future of Music Coalition Deputy Director Casey Rae-Hunter will have a
live discussion to help make sense of a cloudy topic. This live chat will be
broadcast via USTREAM here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/tunecore-live

The conversation will explore a number of topics including:

-What opportunities do cloud services bring for independent artists?
-Do TuneCore Artists get to elect which of their songs and albums go into the iCloud?
-What are the differences between the Google, Amazon, and Apple services?
-Will Apple dominate the "cloud scene" ?
-Do musicians benefit from multiple cloud services? Or do more services hinder the
artist?
-How will Spotify's U.S. launch effect the digital market?
-TuneCore gives all artists access into the top digital music stores. How do they
negotiate on behalf of their DIY artists?

Like TuneCore, it provides complete control to musicians allowing them to distribute their music out to where they want it to go. By working together an artist can extend that distribution channel to digital stores like iTunes."

The promise of the digital revolution in the music industry takes another step forward with the creation today of Interscope Digital Distribution (IDD), by Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records. Through http://www.interscopedigitaldistribution.com/ , IDD will work in conjunction with TuneCore to distribute new and independent artists' original music for sale on such leading retailers as the iTunes Store, Rhapsody, Amazon MP3, Shockhound, eMusic, and Napster, among many others worldwide. IDD adds a fresh twist to the digital distribution model for independent music by offering unsigned artists a unique opportunity to reach the ears of A&R executives all while providing them complete freedom of choice. Interscope/Geffen/A&M's top A&R staff will closely monitor the IDD service as a way to discover great talent. By signing on for distribution specifically through IDD, artists will have the chance to gain their attention. A number of artists may then be selected for development deals. IDD is digital DIY done right – giving music artists a platform for self-expression, allowing them to retain all of the profits from their efforts, and presenting an opportunity for them to access the resources of a major record company.

Heads up that the new TuneCore store at Amazon.com has gone live. The reason that this is important is because TuneCore now offers you the ability to have worldwide distribution of both digital product and physical product without the cost of manufacturing. Releasing music globally has literally never been cheaper or easier. Physical CDs are actually manufactured on demand, when an album is ordered. One of the TuneCore Artists to Watch featured on the page is actually an album made by Iraqi musicians/refugees. If Iraqi refugees are able to put out music on Amazon both digitally and physically, it's further evidence that TuneCore has fundamentally changed the marketplace. Check it out at: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_link_7154062_16?ie=UTF8&node=2210875011

TuneCore will launch a new relationship with Amazon.com. Added to the current offer of international digital distribution via Amazon MP3, TuneCore has announced a new service that provides on-demand global physical distribution via CreateSpace; expanded marketing exclusive to TuneCore Artists; and a TuneCore-branded section of Amazon.com. With no upfront manufacturing costs, TuneCore Artists can set their own sale price and distribute their physical CDs worldwide on Amazon.com. Their CDs will be manufactured on demand by CreateSpace, part of the Amazon group of companies. When a release is ordered at Amazon.com, CreateSpace manufactures the CD complete with a CD booklet, tray card and jewel box on demand. Each title is shipped and fulfilled just like any other Amazon.com order and is eligible for expedited shipping options. Coinciding with the launch of these new features is the TuneCore Art Tool 2.0, enabling artists on the fly to rapidly and easily create customized full-album artwork from within their TuneCore account for free. More info is available at: http://www.tunecore.com/index/faq#Art Artists are building careers, selling significant volumes of music and generating revenue while keeping their rights utilizing the new model created by TuneCore. In its 33 months since launch, TuneCore has distributed tens of thousands of albums and millions of songs to iTunes and other digital stores by Grammy winners and unsigned artists alike. TuneCore Artists include Beck, Jay-Z, Aretha Franklin, Keith Richards, Public Enemy, Nine Inch Nails, Ricky Skaggs, Paul Westerberg, MGM Studios, Warren G, Bjork, Moby, High School Musical cast members, Ali Lohan, Cirque Du Soleil, Starbucks and tens of thousands more. TuneCore currently distributes between 150 - 250 release a day (more music is released in one day via TuneCore than any major record label over a year) and recently expanded its offering to distribute full-length films, TV shows, live concerts, documentaries etc to iTunes and more. TuneCore's own Billboard Top 25 seller chart went live in July, 2008.
