Sonic Edge announced today the launch of its new website, www.sonicedgeinc.com, featuring a new user interface and expanded functionality.

“The J&J Overdrive pedal will be shipping later this month, and because the first line sold out, we expect our customers to generate some new and exciting content,” says Ben Fargen, Co-founder and tone engineer.  The new site will allow for folks to post their comments and more importantly, their own demo videos.  “This helps us to expand the community of musicians that have made Fargen an integral part of their tone”, Ben added.

The site will also feature information on the three winners of the “Me and My Fargen” contest, which closed yesterday.  These winning entries which will be announced at this week’s NAMM show were selected at random and will each receive a Sonic Edge J&J Overdrive pedal, as well as a Tumbleweed pedal which Sonic Edge will be introducing at Summer NAMM and delivering later this September.  Visitors to the web will be able to help select the color of the new Tumbleweed.

“We enjoy the feedback and input of our players and the new site really gives them an opportunity to share their thoughts and music”, says Rachel Wagoner, Web Producer.  Rachel is an expert builder of online communities and applications, and her technical and communication background coupled with her eye for design are a winning combination when it comes to new media.  “The site blends pedals and people together seamlessly, in a simple and clean design.  It’s a Rock-Star!”

The J&J Overdrive as well as the Tumbleweed prototype will be demonstrated this week at the Fargen Amps/Sonic Edge booth at NAMM, booth number 1449, where dealers can enter for a free dealer giveaway of the J&J.

Ben Fargen launched Sonic Edge in March 2010, to focus on manufacturing best-in-class guitar and bass effects pedals. Ben is founder and CEO of Fargen Amplification, founded in 1998, which has become a thriving boutique company that ships custom-built amplifiers to discerning players on four continents.  Ben has developed a reputation as one of the top engineers and visionaries in the amplifier space.  He also provides world tour and studio amp support to many of the world’s most celebrated guitarists including Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and in fact, designed Steve’s Legacy II amplifier that was launched by Carvin in January 2009.

A two-fold compressor and clean boost in one pedal.

The Tumbleweed is an innovative country pedal – the comp side has level and sensitivity controls, while the clean boost sports a level control and a three-way toggle switch with Brit, Cali, and Jazz voicing.  Separate bypass switches allow the comp and boost to be used together, or separate as two individual units.  The Tumbleweed will go on pre-sale at NAMM for expected delivery in September, in time for the 2010 holiday season.

Fargen will demonstrate the Tumbleweed pedal prototype, along with the J&J Overdrive pedal already in production, at the Fargen/Sonic Edge booth #1449.  “We are running the pedals through Fargen Mini Plex MKII and AC Duo-Tone amps, via state-of-the-art Iso-Cabs designed by J Design”, says Ben Fargen, co-founder of Sonic Edge.  “The Iso-Cabs will allow players to isolate the sound from our pedals and amps while blocking out the noise from the NAMM exhibit floor.”

“We set out to introduce a new pedal each quarter, and are happy to announce the Tumbleweed, on the heels of June delivery of the J&J Overdrive pedal”, Fargen added.

Sonic Edge is running a special dealer giveaway and all dealers that stop by the booth to try the pedals will be entered into a drawing to win a free J&J Overdrive pedal.  In addition, Fargen will announce the three winners of its ‘Me and My Fargen’ contest while at the conference.

Sonic Edge is a newly launched company focused on manufacturing best-in-class guitar and bass effects pedals. The company was founded by Ben Fargen, founder and CEO of Fargen Amplification. "Over the years, I have helped guitarists of all levels to achieve their desired tone in terms of their amplifiers. I formed Sonic Edge to focus my expertise and experience to help musicians achieve the same level of tone in terms of their effects." Sonic Edge uses Ben's unique designs coupled with his custom components to create reference-quality tone at an affordable price. The J&J is the company's inaugural product, a vintage overdrive pedal "with the authority of a vintage micro amp, the heart and soul of a tube screamer and the touch responsiveness of a Class A tube amp", in Ben's words. A handful of top professional guitarists helped to test the J&J pedal, which is now a top prize in the Monster TPR Play-Off contest being held online by The Public Record, and will be featured in Doug Doppler's upcoming DVD "Get Killer Tone". "The J&J is a versatile pedal that covers a broad range of sound, and we felt this pedal would be a good introduction of Sonic Edge to guitarists of all levels and in most genres of music." Sonic Edge is now taking preorders with an expected delivery in June. The company will distribute the product directly to consumers, as well as through dealers, many of which have expressed an interest. Ben is hard at work designing the next pedal, which will be prototyped at this summer's NAMM in June in Nashville, TN. "Our plan is to release at least one new pedal or effect each quarter, so that we eventually support all types of guitarists", Ben added. The company chose the J&J as its flagship product because it is adaptable to many styles of music, from late 60's classic rock to modern genres. The company has developed nine additional product designs, with many more in the works. Ben founded Fargen Amplification in 1998, which has become a thriving boutique company that ships custom-built amplifiers to discerning players on four continents. Ben has developed a reputation as one of the top engineers and visionaries in the amplifier space.
