The DRS-EQ/500 is our 500 series format EQ based on our ever popular 4 band Gyrator EQ- taken from the DRSQ4. The DRS-EQ/500 has all the same sonic characteristics and features as the DRS-Q4 EQ. The DRS-EQ/500 features a fully detented 4 band EQ with 11 different switchable frequencies. On the HF, we have 15k & 10k. On the mids there are 6k/3k & 1.6k and 800hz/400/hz & 200hz. ph.jpgFinally, the LF with 130hz/80hz 40hz. The DRS-EQ/500 has our own unique Class A buffer amp stage and our own unique Class A discrete output stage which is found in all products like the DRS-8 and the Nicerizer 16 and is responsible for producing a creamy saturation while remaining transparent and punchy.

In the design of the DRS-EQ/500 we have again worked very hard to find a solution to the issue of powering our units from within the API lunchbox. Thus, we have our own onboard power supply which enables us to effectively increase the API's lunchbox power to a full 24 volts which is necessary to power DRS  EQ/500. This means that the DRS-EQ/500 has the same full sound as our rackmount  processors and without any sacrifice to low or high frequencies which you may find on other 500 series modules as they can sound quite thin and brittle comparably. Also by having our own onboard power supply we've been able to lower the DRS-EQ/500 current draw (well below the current API lunchbox requirements). The DRS-EQ/500 will work in the all of API's lunchbox racks (older ones and the newest VPR approved ones) and with other manufacturers 500 series racks, all the while happily working alongside other manufacturers' units which may be more power hungry.

First signature pedal bearing the name of the iconoclastic guitarist of the band Korn

Torrance, CA – May 10, 2012 – Distilling the raw power, massive saturation and distinctive roar of Munky’s amp array into a tiny box, the Krush Distortion allows players to achieve the sound that conquered the world, plugged into any amp.

ma.jpg

Munky’s request was for Majik Box to design a pedal  that could achieve two of his most celebrated tones – his signature heavy distortion sound and a lo fi sound that he often uses on intro sections and breakdowns in Korn’s music.  It was obvious that the request was met in spades, when Munky mounted the final prototype onto his pedal board and began using the pedal immediately on the band’s current U.S. tour.  The bonus is the incredible variability the pedal offers, allowing players to dial in signature sounds of their own.

The Krush Distortion features:

*Marked settings for two of Munky’s favorite sounds; heavy distortion and lo fi

*Four knobs, including a special Focus Control allowing a wide range of tonal possibilities

*Solid, brushed aluminum casing for light weight and road ready durability

*True Bypass operation

Designed and built at the Majik Box HQ in Torrance CA, the Krush Distortion is shipping now and can be purchased directly from the Majik Box online store at www.majikboxusa.com. Street Price: $229.99

The all-in-one ARIS speaker system includes six internal drivers and four amplifiers that provide a total of 100 W RMS power. The brushed aluminum enclosure, measuring  6.5 inches high by 14.75 inches wide, increases rigidity to fill most  rooms with full-range, distortion-free stereo sound.
“We’re excited to see the launch of a product that combines Aperion’s experience in building high-quality wireless audio with the built-in  music streaming capabilities in Windows,” says Aidan Marcuss, Sr. Director, Windows Core Marketing and Ecosystem, Microsoft Corp. Nashville, Tenn. – Unit Audio is pleased to announce it’s  flagship Unit 16 x 2 passive summing mixer. The Unit joins the popular  Milli-Unit and the Micro-Unit PSMs to give recording professionals and  enthusiasts even  more configurations to choose from. Like all Unit Audio PSMs, it is  completely hand assembled, tested, and wired point to point in  Nashville, TN using only the highest quality components.

The  Unit Audio PSMs add back the sparkle and punch of analog recording that  is so often missing in a purely “in the box” mix. With prices starting  at  $149.00 plus shipping, Unit Audio’s PSMs put passive summing technology  within the reach of average home or project studio owners. Easy setup  makes these mixers the perfect companion to a Digital Audio Workstation.

un.jpg

“Is  analog summing going to make your recordings sound like a Nashville  studio with a billion dollars worth of equipment?” says Unit Audio’s  Design Engineer  Terry, “Probably not, but you will notice a difference in your mixes  using a Unit Audio summing mixer.”

On  the subject of summing, Terry has this to say “Loosely quoting  Shakespeare one might say ‘To analog sum or not to analog sum?’  This  has been a point  of controversy with digital recording for quite some time. With modern  DAW software, mixing within the computer has resulted in some great  sounding recordings, but I have long been intrigued by the concept of  analog summing. I was not prepared to pay $800.00  or more to test that theory, so I engineered and built my own. Then to  test the theory, I set out to see if there was any difference in the  mixed sound. Much to my amazement and pleasure, I did notice a subtle  but very pleasing difference in the stereo separation and placement of the instruments compared to my In the Box mixes.

About Unit Audio

Unit  Audio manufactures a line of passive summing mixers as well as the  “Baffle-Unit” line of space tuning acoustic panels for the home and  project studio  customer.
