February 21, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) – On February 17th, PRS Guitars introduced a new take on the popular DGT (David Grissom Trem) model – the DGT Standard. This all-mahogany version of Grissom’s signature model maintains many of the features unique to the DGT, including Grissom’s signature neck shape, slightly larger frets and heavier strings, tremolo capability, and specially designed DGT pickups with individual volume controls. Grissom’s original PRS signature model has been one of PRS Guitars’ most popular artist models since its introduction in 2007, so this special edition should come at no surprise for fans of the Maryland-based company

"The DGT Standard has been in the works for the last year, and I’m really excited PRS is doing a run of these guitars. My first PRS was an ‘85 all-mahogany Seafoam Green Standard, so this guitar brings everything full circle for me. All-mahogany guitars are more focused in the mids as a general rule and have a nice chime and growl as well. Paul and I agreed that doing an all-mahogany DGT was the ideal way to get a great variation on my signature model without sacrificing any of the soul and features of the original. I have to say that PRS hit it out of the park once again!," said David Grissom.

Dgt.jpg

Austin-based guitarist David Grissom made his debut as Joe Ely’s lead guitarist in the mid Eighties. His on stage and studio resumes include stints with rock legend Ringo Starr, blues icons Buddy Guy and John Mayall, roots rockers John Mellancamp and Chris Isaak, and country headliners the Dixie Chicks and Brooks & Dunn, and even a brief period as a member of the Allman Brothers Band, where he replaced Dickey Betts. This diverse portfolio has allowed Grissom to simultaneously maintain a bold, distinctive voice while perfectly complementing the artists he accompanies.

February 2, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) –Paul Reed Smith Guitars was on site at Daytona International Speedway for the historic 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, providing world class  entertainment and awarding several highly collectable instruments to  race fans and race teams alike.
Top Notch Concerts
With  the help of Guitar Center, the world’s largest musical retailer, PRS  hosted three exciting concerts in the Sprint FANZONE during the 24-hour endurance race. Sixteen year old Alex Trimblett, winner of  the In Tune Race to the Stage competition, opened up for guitar  sensation Orianthi on Saturday night. He played with the Rocky Mountain  Stoneflies, a PRS house band comprised of veteran musicians. Orianthi then took the stage, backed by the Paul Reed Smith  Band, and delivered an incredible performance filled with sensational  vocals and impressive guitar solos. To close out the evening, the  Stoneflies returned to the stage and played a set with guest appearances from Paul Reed Smith, Davy Knowles (PRS signature  artist), Jeff Smallwood (GRAND-AM Racing), and Greg Di Benedetto  (Guitar Aficionado magazine). The third concert featured Davy Knowles, a  phenomenal guitarist and vocalist from the Isle of Man. These performances added an exciting new element to the race and  had eyes temporarily glued to the stage.
Stunning Race Trophies
The  overall Daytona Prototype (DP) winner of the high-endurance event,  Michael Shank Racing, took home the PRS Private Stock Custom 24 trophy instrument, which has a retail value of $16,000. PRS President  Jack Higginbotham presented the guitar at the podium in Daytona’s  Gatorade Vistory Lane to Michael Shank who exclaimed, "I've been looking  forward to this one!" In the Grand Touring (GT) class, Magnus Racing took home the first of the 2012 PRS GRAND-AM trophy  guitars with their first ever GRAND-AM win.  The Magnus Porsche GT3 Cup  car has flown PRS decals for two years, making this victory especially  rewarding for the Stevensville, Maryland instrument manufacturer.
Lucky Fan Wins Big
In  an effort to bring these experiences to fans, PRS helped sponsor two  promotions in conjunction with the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Guitar Aficionado magazine, Guitar Center’s Platinum Room, and PRS held a  sweepstake to win a VIP racing experience. The winner, Tony Benken from  Nashville, TN, received a replica of the PRS Private Stock Custom 24  trophy guitar signed by a plethora of Rolex 24 champions, meet and greet opportunities with PRS artists, hot laps with four time Rolex  24 At Daytona winner Scott Pruett, a magnum of Pruett's award-winning  wine, and a tour of the paddock by Pruett himself.
As  the 2012 season continues, be on the lookout for PRS decals on TRG,  Turner Motorsports, and Magnus Racing racecars and the PRS GRAND-AM trophy that will be presented to the DP and GT winners of each  Rolex Series race. Guitar Center Fan Days will be held in conjunction  with three additional 2012 races - Watkins Glen International,  Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. These events bring fans many unique opportunities, including free  setups on PRS guitars, meetings with product specialists from the PRS  factory, in-depth product demonstrations by PRS staff, the chance to  meet GRAND-AM personnel and experience their interactive mobile display, and the opportunity to purchase a replica of the 2012  GRAND-AM trophy guitar from Guitar Center, the exclusive dealer for  these instruments. Guitar Center Fan Days also host the In Tune Race to  the Stage auditions for teenage guitarists to win a chance to play at a Rolex Series race.
“It was an honor to be part of the 50th Anniversary Rolex 24 At Daytona.  We have worked hard for 10 years to bring together the worlds of racing and music and we feel we  accomplished that over the weekend in a way that eclipses our previous  efforts.  Working with DIS, GRAND-AM, In Tune, Guitar Aficionado, Guitar  Center, and all the musicians to pull together each element was enormously gratifying to the entire PRS team,” said  Jack Higginbotham, PRS Guitars President.

PRS Guitars’ Flagship Model Gets a Subtle New Look and an Enhanced Tonal Spectrum
January  18, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) – Paul Reed Smith Guitars’ Custom 24 model  was updated in 2011 with new pickups and a redesigned 5-way blade switch, giving the flagship model a new voice and even more  versatility. For 2012, its revered uncovered 59/09 pickups are being  updated with new, contoured bobbins that arc with the strings for a more  spread out, open tone. First seen on PRS Collection instruments, these bobbins are a continuation of Paul Reed Smith’s quest  to continually tweak and refine the company’s instruments in subtle  ways with the goal of culminating in a more musical instrument always in  mind.
prs5.jpg
“Originally,  humbucking pickups were covered to combat electrostatic and  electromagnetic hum. As the years passed and the covers came off, there was a gap between the pickup and the pickup ring. These  new bobbins not only provide extended low and high end, they look like  they were meant to be uncovered and in a ring,” said Paul Reed Smith.
These  new bobbins can be seen for the first time on PRS Custom 24 guitars at  the winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California from January 19-22, 2012 at PRS Booth #5320.

January 18, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD ) – Announced in September 2011, the PRS SE Angelus Standard and Custom models are made with high-quality components, including a solid back and solid spruce top, a bone nut and saddle, and PRS SE designed tuners. A PRS pickup system will be an added option on the SE Angelus models in 2012, highlighting the instruments’ rich, resonant, and responsive tone. The PRS pickup system is an under-saddle design with three bands of EQ and  an anti-feedback loop. The pickup uses one 9-volt battery for power.
The SE Angelus shares the same proprietary bracing pattern and several  distinct construction features as PRS’s acclaimed Maryland-made acoustic line, as well as the company’s trademark bird inlays and  headstock design. The PRS SE Angelus is offered in both a “Standard” and  “Custom” package. The Angelus Standard includes mahogany sides, a solid mahogany back and a rosewood fretboard and bridge, while the Angelus Custom includes rosewood sides, a solid rosewood back,  and an ebony fretboard bridge.
prs6.jpg
“The SE Angelus models are the newest additions to the SE product  family, which has matured into a comprehensive line of electric and  acoustic guitars as well as amplifiers. The addition of an optional  pickup system on the SE acoustics makes the line even more complete. My hope is that all of our SE products become tools for making  music and sources of joy,” said Paul Reed Smith.
The fully acoustic version of these highly-anticipated instruments will  begin hitting stores in early 2012. Instruments with the optional pickup system are available for order beginning on January 19,  2012 and will begin shipping in the spring of that year. Both  configurations will be shown at the winter NAMM show in Anaheim,  California from January 19-22, 2012 in PRS Booth #5320.

January 18, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) – Paul Reed Smith Guitars is proud to add the P22, the company’s first piezo-equipped solidbody guitar, to its 2012 lineup. The P22 comes standard with a figured maple top, mahogany back, mahogany neck with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, and a redesigned PRS/LR Baggs piezo system. PRS and LR Baggs partnered  more than a decade ago to design the piezo system found in PRS’s popular hollowbody models. This new system retains the same circuit design as the original, giving the P22 the same tonal authenticity and real world practicality as PRS hollowbody guitars. The redesign of the board itself yielded a version that is more than 60% smaller than the original PRS/LR Baggs system, allowing it to comfortably inhabit a solidbody guitar. Uncovered 53/10  pickups round out this guitar’s specifications and help define the P22’svoice.
prs3.jpg
"I have recorded and mixed hundreds and hundreds of acoustic guitars, including mixing both live and studio cuts, and I have never heard a more musical, more natural sound from an acoustic pickup system.  If that had been the only thing special about the guitar I would have  been excited, but then to hear the electric tones it creates - I was blown away," said Grammy Award-winning Producer and Engineer Don McCollister after a recording session with the P22.
Piezo systems have long allowed guitarists the versatility of wielding both acoustic and electric guitar tones in one instrument. The PRS Hollowbody II and Singlecut Hollowbody II both come standard  with a PRS/LR Baggs piezo and have achieved a great level of popularity  in PRS Guitars’ product line. The addition of a solidbody model will give musicians a new and unique tool to add to their own lineup.
"The ability to blend in an acoustic sound along with whatever electric tone  you are recording would be a game changer in certain situations. I noticed that it really helped the notes ring clearly  through the haze, which is a tough thing to accomplish in a complex mix  sometimes. I could see it becoming my go-to session guitar, and I'll be  one of the first in line when it comes out!," continued McCollister.
After nearly a year of work from concept to completion, the P22 guitar will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2012. The P22 will be on display for the first time at the winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California from January 19-22 at PRS Booth #5320.

January  18, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) – The PRS SE Custom will be updated for  2012 with a new body carve and pickup control configuration. Previously the SE Custom had a flat style body, but for 2012, the  popular SE model will receive a beveled top carve, more reminiscent of  PRS Guitars’ original Custom 24 model. The SE’s pickup control layout  for 2012 will be one volume and one push/pull tone control paired with a 3-way blade switch. The addition of a coil tap on  the tone control will give increased versatility, allowing guitarists to  split the SE HFS and SE Vintage Bass pickups into singlecoils for the  first time. The move from 3-way toggle to blade switch will provide more control and consistency with PRS’s  Maryland made line.
prs1.jpg
“Our  SE Custom is following the updates to our Maryland built Custom on an  aggressive timeline. These updates provide an excellent instrument at an excellent price,” said Paul Reed Smith.
The  updated SE body shape will also come standard on 2012 SE Paul Allender,  SE Nick Catanese, and SE Orianthi models, with the SE Orianthi making the added change from a 3-way toggle to a 3-way blade  switch. New for 2012, the SE Dave Navarro will receive the updated  beveled top as well.
These new features can be seen for the first time at the winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California from January 19-22 at PRS Booth #5320.

January 18, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) – Officially launched in 2009, the PRS amplifier division has now matured into a comprehensive product line. From the core family of Maryland-made PRS amps to the  exclusive Custom Amp Design (CAD) program to the SE amplifier line, PRS  now has an option for every musician and musical avenue. Accordingly, PRS artists have signed on in support of all three tiers of PRS amplifier products and are flying the PRS amp flag with vigor.
PRS’s core amplifier line continues to earn a strong presence in the market. Like PRS guitars, they are becoming known for their unique and reliable tone as well as their craftsmanship. Several PRS artists are now playing PRS core amplifiers, including Tom Johnston and David Grissom. Tom Johnston is using the PRS 2 Channel “H” amp, commenting, “I’m impressed with its sustain, wicked bottom end, and brighter high end. It sets my sound on stage apart.” David Grissom prefers single channel amps and mainly plays a Super Dallas and a 25th Anniversary amp, both from our Core line. He also has a CAD “30” that Doug Sewell worked with him to custom-build. David has cherry-picked amps for years, but has found that the variety of tones he can get with PRS amps is so broad that they work for multiple guitar parts from  rhythm to melody to high-gain leads.
prs2.jpg
The CAD program takes PRS Guitars’ core values to new heights with models like the  HXDA, MDT, and Blistertone. PRS Amp Designer Doug Sewell and Paul Reed Smith have been working closely together since  the program’s inception providing the most personalized and personally  crafted PRS amplifiers available. The ultimate goal of this program is  to build and provide magic pieces of gear. “One-off” pieces can also be ordered through this program, yielding amps  like Jennifer Lopez guitarist Mario Sebastian’s 2 Channel “H” with  white cosmetics.
The SE amplifier line expands PRS’s 2 channel offerings, providing affordable tube amps  without sacrificing tone, usability, or quality. The SE 20, SE 30, and SE 50 are all available as 1 x 12  closed back combos or as heads. The Pixies’ Joey Santiago (already an  endorser of PRS Mira and Starla guitars) is using the SE 50 on tour and  plans to incorporate an SE 30 into his rig as well. “[The SE 50] has this great punky edge, but it’s also really warm. What  really set it apart was its definition…It’s versatile. I love its clean  sounds as well…It has a sparkly high end that I can’t get with a  Marshall,” said Santiago.
The full line of PRS amplifiers will be on display at the winter NAMM show  in Anaheim, California from January 19-22, 2012 at PRS Booth #5320.

Signature Artists Include Dave Navarro, Orianthi, Nick Catanese, Chris Henderson, Neal Schon, and Cody Kilby
January 18, 2012 (STEVENSVILLE, MD) – PRS Guitars’ family of signature artist guitars will see updates across the line in 2012. The SE line will add an SE Dave Navarro signature guitar and  significantly update the SE Orianthi and SE Nick Catanese models. PRS’s Maryland-made Chris Henderson artist model is getting a classic makeover. The PRS Private Stock department will offer a Neal Schon Limited Run of no more than 60 guitars (the model will be available for order from January 19 – February 15, 2012). And in the acoustic product family, a Private Stock Cody Kilby model will be added.
Dave Navarro is only the third PRS artist to have both a Maryland-made and SE signature model (with Carlos Santana and Mark Tremonti coming before him). The Jane’s Addiction guitarist’s SE model  will boast a beveled maple top, mahogany back, maple neck with rosewood  fingerboard, and SE HFS and SE Vintage Bass pickups with a push-pull  tone control and 3-way toggle. His SE model will also have his signature Jet White finish and gold hardware. Navarro’s  Maryland-made signature model has been one of PRS’s most popular artist  guitars. The addition of the SE Dave Navarro instrument will make this  model accessible to more fans and musicians. “This is a way to make my guitar available to people who turn to music  and art as a way of dealing with the world. It’s my act of gratitude to  other musicians out there,” Navarro explains.
prs4.jpg
Also in the SE family, the SE Orianthi and SE Nick Catanese have new specs for 2012. The 2012 SE Orianthi will  receive the new beveled SE carve and push/pull tone control with 3-way blade switch  (previously a 3-way toggle with no coil tapping). The guitar goddess’s  finish is also changing – from Red Sparkle to Scarlet Red. Additionally,  Nick Catanese of Black Label Society has been working with PRS to renovate his signature SE. The 2012 model  will have a straightforward, sleek look with a mahogany body with a  flame maple veneer, ebony fingerboard with no inlays, and a Scarlet Red  finish with black binding. The SE Nick Catanese will keep its distinguishing chrome EMG 81/85 pickups and Tone Pros  adjustable stoptail.
Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down has also revamped his Maryland-made signature model, shedding the  middle pickup for a classic electronics configuration. The 2012 Chris Henderson will feature a PRS  250 treble pickup and #7 bass pickup with a volume and tone control for  each and 3-way toggle on the upper bout. Other features include a maple  top, mahogany back, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and adjustable stoptail. This guitar is a must see for 3  Doors fans and anyone lamenting the discontinuation of the PRS SC 250  model.
The PRS Private Stock department is offering a Neal Schon Limited Edition guitar. This Private Stock guitar is a wonderfully designed medium-thin archtop with a Floyd Rose system, curly maple top,  back, and sides, and many of Neal’s personal design requests, including  knob placement and pickups. The design is virtually identical to the  instrument Neal has been playing on the most recent Journey tour. These instruments will be available for order from  January 19 – February 15, 2012, but will be limited to a maximum of 60  guitars.
Bluegrass virtuoso Cody Kilby is joining Tony McManus and Martin Simpson as a PRS Private Stock  signature acoustic artist. Kilby is best known for his work with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.  His Private Stock signature model will feature a PRS Tonare Grand body  perimeter with a shallower PRS Angelus depth and a “Traditional” inlay  pattern (only available on the Cody Kilby model). Private Stock options available to customers include top, back  and side, neck, and fingerboard wood from the famed Private Stock Vault.
PRS Guitars considers its signature artists an essential part of the close-knit PRS family and is proud to continue to add new members to the fold and to continually refresh the offering of signature  products.
These new, improved, and limited edition artist models will be on display at  the winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California from January 19-22, 2012 at PRS Booth #5320.

2012 Season Launch at the 50th Anniversary Rolex 24 At Daytona Race Includes Concerts and an Impressive New Trophy
(December  12, 2011) STEVENSVILLE, MD – PRS Guitars will be partnering with  GRAND-AM Road Racing for the third straight year in 2012. For the second year, PRS will again provide winners in both the Rolex  Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype (DP) and Grand Touring (GT) classes  with a unique trophy—a fully functional PRS SE Singlecut guitar  customized with GRAND-AM and Rolex Sports Car Series logos.
Two exciting new elements have also been added for the 2012 season: pre-race Guitar Center PRS Fan Days and race day concerts at select locations. These new elements as well as a Guitar Aficionado VIP racing experience sweepstake are planned in conjunction with the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 28-29, 2012.
“We  are excited to partner with GRAND-AM Road Racing for a third year,”  said Jack Higginbotham, President, PRS Guitars. “Both parties worked to make the partnership of cars and guitars more tangible for  2012, and I think we’ve accomplished that through these new elements.”
PRS, In Tune Monthly magazine, and Guitar Center are teaming up to host pre-race Guitar Center PRS Fan Days at four locations throughout the racing season. These events will bring players  unique opportunities, including free setups on their PRS guitars,  meetings with product specialists from the PRS factory, in-depth product  demonstrations by PRS staff, and the chance to meet GRAND-AM personnel and experience their interactive mobile display,  which includes a GRAND-AM racecar. Customers will also be able to  see—and even purchase—replica PRS/GRAND-AM trophy guitars.
At each of these Guitar Center events, In Tune Monthly, the magazine for music students and teachers in grades 7-12, will be hosting In Tune’s “Race to the Stage” auditions. These  auditions will give one area high school guitar player the chance to  perform at the GRAND-AM Rolex Series race in his/her city. Winners will  receive a PRS SE guitar and SE amplifier and will perform at the track with The Rocky Mountain Stoneflies, a band comprised of PRS  Guitars’ staff. For details and official rules on the “In Tune’s Race  to the Stage” promotion, visit www.intunemonthly.com/racetothestage.
The  first Guitar Center Fan Day is scheduled for January 7 at Guitar Center  Orlando. Subsequent events are planned around the race weekends at Watkins Glen International (Guitar Center Syracuse),  Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Guitar Center Indianapolis), and Mazda  Raceway Laguna Seca (Guitar Center San Jose) in the summer. Race day  concerts featuring PRS artists are scheduled throughout the season at these races as well.
To kick off the 2012 season, PRS will join GRAND-AM Road Racing, the “World Center of Racing,” Guitar Aficionado magazine, Guitar Center, and In Tune Monthly to bring these unique experiences and more to the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona race on January 28-29 at Daytona International Speedway. In addition to  a pre-event Guitar Center PRS Fan Day in Orlando, PRS will also showcase multiple concerts during the two-day Rolex 24 At  Daytona race event, featuring guitar sensation Orianthi and British  blues guitarist and singer Davy Knowles with the PRS Band.
The winner of the 24 hour grueling test of man and machine will walk away with a PRS Private Stock Custom 24 trophy guitar with a retail value of more than $16,000. The Private Stock division of  PRS utilizes the highest quality materials to create the company’s most  exclusive instruments. The trophy guitar for the Rolex 24 At Daytona  includes 111 pieces of gold mother of pearl for the inlay and boasts a rosewood fingerboard, mahogany back and sides  and a figured maple top with matching headstock veneer. This unique  trophy will sound as stunning as it looks.
Finally, Guitar Aficionado and Guitar Center’s Platinum Room are offering a VIP racing experience sweepstake that will transport one lucky winner to the Daytona race for a plethora of once in a lifetime opportunities, including:
  • A replica of the Rolex 24 At Daytona PRS Private Stock Custom 24 trophy guitar
  • Hot lap rides for two on the famed Daytona International Speedway road course with multi-championship driver Scott Pruett

(STEVENSVILLE, MD) September 28, 2011—When Paul Reed Smith assumed  leadership of the PRS Private Stock program in 2009, he remarked, “I’m  looking forward to building guitars again.” The Collection Series from  Private Stock provides him the opportunity to do just that.  Much like  the sought-after “Paul’s 28” guitars, these instruments are built in  small batches (about a dozen at a time) and incorporate a balance of PRS  traditions and exclusive “prototype stage” specifications. Collection  instruments are built using the finest materials from Private Stock’s  most select stash of exotic tone woods. Many of these woods, including  prized pernambuco used to make necks and fingerboards, will no longer be  available for standard Private Stock orders. Proprietary specs,  including Celtic knot inlays, will not be offered on forthcoming Private  Stock guitars as well. Paul Reed Smith will personally oversee the  design, wood selection, and construction of each Collection guitar.

A very limited number—approximately 70 acoustics and 70 electrics—will  be made in total each year. These instruments cannot be ordered, but are  designed by PRS and will be sold to exclusive Private Stock Collection  dealers in pairs comprised of one acoustic and one electric guitar. With  no more than twenty dealers worldwide, the partnership formed between  Paul Reed Smith as a builder and these dealers and distributors is a  very special one, and Paul plans to visit each dealer that signs up with  a PRS endorser as a public and personal thank you.

The new Collection Series was announced at the “Experience PRS” event  (September 22-24, 2011) and dealers and distributors were eager to join  this exclusive program. PRS Private Stock Collection dealers include:  Guitar Sanctuary (McKinney, TX), Wild West Guitars (Riverside, CA), Wild  Wood Guitars (Louisville, CO), Willcutt Guitars (Lexington, KY),  Washington Music Center (Wheaton, MD), Rudy’s Music (NYC, NY),  Sweetwater (Fort Wayne, IN), Guitar Center (Atlanta, GA and Dallas, TX  locations), and Guitar Resurrection (Austin, TX). Internationally,  Collection guitars will be available from The Guitar Shop in  Mississauga, Canada and the following distributors: Headline (United  Kingdom), Korg Import Division (Japan), Voerman (Benelux), and Roland  Meinl Musikinstrumente (Germany and Austria).

(STEVENSVILLE, MD) September 22, 2011—Experience PRS has become one of  MI’s largest single-manufacturer events, one that PRS Guitars uses as a  platform to introduce new models and limited runs to the marketplace.  With the NF3 and DC3 models being updated to include a bird inlay option and three limited edition Maryland-made electric guitars—the Stripped  58, Swamp Ash Studio, and the Experience PRS 2011 Custom 24—this year’s event is no exception.

Bird inlays have become synonymous with PRS, and offer value and distinctiveness to the guitars they adorn. The popular NF3 and DC3 models, introduced in September 2010, are now being permanently updated to include a bird inlay option for the first time.  The NF3 and DC3 offer versatility, clarity, and rich, resonant tone, thanks to the 5-way blade switch, V12 finish, and wood choice  combinations (korina and alder, respectively). Their “Pattern Regular” bolt-on necks and flat body design paired with PRS designed 57/08 Narrowfield and DC3 Singlecoil pickups help make both the NF3 and DC3 modern classics.

The Stripped 58 offers straightforward tone and quality in an attractive, no-nonsense package. A vintage-inspired instrument perfect for more traditional singlecutaway players, the 58 has a classic resonant voice that is eminently recordable and gig ready.  It is also instantly comfortable to players who grew up playing short scale guitars. The Stripped 58 has all the essential PRS specifications, including a maple top with mahogany back, a 24.5” scale length, 22 fret  mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard and bird inlays. The 58 also offers PRS Guitars’ newer 2-piece bridge, 57/08 pickups, and “Pattern” neck profile.

Like the acclaimed Studio model, the Swamp Ash Studio is an updated take on a traditional single-single-hum guitar with PRS’s proprietary 57/07 Narrowfield pickups in the middle and bass positions in conjunction with a 57/08 humbucking bridge pickup. This pickup combination in conjunction with a 5-way blade pickup selector makes this guitar extremely versatile. The addition here of the swamp ash body helps provide clear bell-like highs, pronounced mids, and strong lows, and the bolt-on figured maple neck is lightly sealed for a natural, comfortable feel. The Stripped 58 and Swamp Ash Studio Limited Edition models will not be limited to a specific quantity, but to a limited order window (ending October 14).

The Experience PRS event has become a significant part of PRS history and music industry calendars. Specially appointed to commemorate the 5th annual Experience PRS event, the Experience 2011 Custom 24 is adorned with an artist grade top with matching headstock veneer, the original PRS tremolo cavity carve, black and white mother of pearl bird  inlays, and an artist case. The small eagle on the headstock has been updated to match the 2011 PRS birds and pays homage to Paul’s “pre-factory” guitars; this feature has become a tradition for Experience PRS limited runs. These instruments also features the new PRS  5-way blade switch and covered 59/09 pickups with custom etched pickup covers, offering versatility and uncompromised tone. This run is limited to 200 pieces worldwide and comes in four colors: Burnt Almond, Faded Abalone, Gold Burst, and Orange Tiger (50 of each color will be made).

(STEVENSVILLE, MD) September 23, 2011—The Paul Reed Smith Guitars SE  Acoustic line strives to provide the finest instruments in its price  point. Made with high quality components, including solid backs and  solid spruce tops, bone nuts and saddles, and PRS designed SE tuners,  these instruments are full of integrity. Additionally, they share the  same proprietary “hybrid X” bracing pattern and several distinctive  construction features as the acclaimed Maryland-made PRS Acoustic  guitars. These design specifications distinguish these guitars and help  give them their rich, resonant, and responsive tone, while the trademark  headstock deign and bird inlays clearly portray PRS quality.

Boutique Attitude with a Popular Price Tag

(STEVENSVILLE, MD) August 18, 2011 -- PRS Guitars is proud to officially  announce a new line of PRS SE amplifiers that expands the company’s two channel  amp offerings to include boutique attitude at a price every guitarist can  afford. In the spirit of the acclaimed PRS SE line of guitars, these new amps  continue the concept of providing affordable musical instruments and equipment  without sacrificing tone, usability, or quality. The lineup, scheduled to start  shipping this fall, includes the PRS SE 20 featuring 6V6  tubes, PRS SE 30 featuring 5881’s, and PRS SE 50 featuring EL34’s– all of which are offered as closed back 1x12 combos  or as heads. A PRS SE 2x12 cabinet is available as well. All of  the amps in this family feature two channels with separate EQ, an effects loop,  and reverb. Each amp also boasts custom wound transformers, 0.090 aluminum  chassis, high-end “on-on-on” selector switches, only the best NNS tubes,  custom-voiced speakers, custom knobs, and more.

PRS Amp Designer Doug Sewell spearheaded this project and worked with the  company’s amp team to design and build a hand-wired prototype with high-end  components. Using this as the tonal and functional quality baseline for this  project, the team then worked with expert consultants to develop the final  family of SE amps. “I cannot effectively describe the sense of teamwork,  passion, and hard work associated with this endeavor, but I feel it is very  evident in the final product…I personally cannot wait until I can purchase my  own, or more realistically, one of each!” said Sewell. This endeavor succeeded  in part by looking to the tried and true PRS SE guitar line model. The  highly-praised line of SE guitars is endorsed by such musicians as Carlos  Santana, Orianthi, Mikael Akerfeldt and Fredrik Akesson of Opeth, Tim Mahoney of  311, and Mark Tremonti of Creed and Alterbridge. This new PRS SE amplifier line  offers the same quality and versatility that attracted these renowned guitarists  at an irresistible price.

PRS premiered these amps at an invite only event in early August at the  Ottobar, a popular music venue in Baltimore, Maryland. With the support of  National Bohemian beer (affectionately dubbed “Natty Boh”), local musicians,  promoters, club and studio owners, and press were invited to come be the first  to check out these amps. Among the guests was Joey Santiago of the Pixies  (already an endorser of PRS Mira and Starla guitars). After trying the 30, Joey  said, “Great 2 channel amp. The clean channel is nice and clear. The high end is  very pleasant. The overdrive channel has a great crunch and punch.” Overall, the  premier was a great way to reach out to the music community and ask for their  feedback, and as the night ended, it was clear PRS had a great new product.
