Elixir Strings is inviting all Summer NAMM 2010 attendees to stop by Booth 728 to take the Elixir Cables Comparison Challenge.

Retail employees who are able to hear the difference between an Elixir Cables setup and an industry standard counterpart receive a patch cable courtesy of Elixir Strings.

The first Elixir Cables comparison took place at this year's Winter NAMM, where music industry professionals were able to hear a clear difference between the two setups. This time Elixir Strings is adding a challenge to the mix: The entire Elixir Cables line of instrument and patch cables will once again be demonstrated in a side-by-side comparison with a comparable industry setup. Representatives of music industry retailers will be given the opportunity to play, or listen to a skilled musician play, a guitar hooked up to the Elixir Cables rig as well as an industry-standard cable setup.

"With the success of our cable comparison at Winter NAMM, we're challenging Summer NAMM attendees to come face the music," says Craig Theorin, Elixir Strings product manager. "We're confident that every person will be able to hear the increased clarity of the Elixir Cables setup over that of a competitor."

While ordinary cables can distort the sound of a player's guitar by artificially boosting the mids and cutting the highs, the full line of Elixir Cables instrument and patch cables provide the lowest capacitance, minimizing tone loss from a guitar setup and delivering the truest voice of a player's guitar. Elixir Cables players experience nothing but clean, clear signals, which increase the quality of their performances

Elixir Cables feature a unique combination of extreme durability and flexible, non-twist memory for a superior performance and easy, efficient use. The dual-shield construction of the cables protect against EMI and handling noise with an abrasion-resistant jacket that provides superior cut resistance. Elixir Cables instrument cables are available in lengths of 10, 15, 20 and 30 feet, in either right- or straight-angle jacks. The company's recently introduced patch cables are available in 6-inch and 12-inch lengths with a right-angle-to-right-angle plug configuration.

Elixir Strings is announcing an expansion of its Elixir® Cables line with the addition of a patch cable at this year's Winter NAMM show, January 14-17 in Anaheim, CA (Booth 5000, Hall B). With the addition of the new patch cable, players can experience the true voice of their guitar through their entire signal chain from guitar through the pedal board to the amp. "Players can have the finest guitar, amps, and effects pedals around but if they're not using the proper cabling their guitar may not sound the best it can," explains Craig Theorin, Elixir Strings product manager. "Ordinary cables distort the sound of players' guitars by artificially boosting the mids and cutting the highs. Using our full line of patch and instrument cables reduces capacitance and minimizes tone loss from their entire setup. " For further signal clarity, Elixir Cables feature a dual shield construction to protect against both EMI and handling noise. Whether in the studio or on tour, Elixir Cables are designed to withstand the rigors of repeated use. The full line of Elixir Cables utilizes an abrasion-resistant jacket to allow maximum flexibility while providing superior cut resistance. The cables are also crush resistant and offer a space-grade center conductor to improve flex life and overall reliability. The new patch cables will be available in 6-inch and 12-inch lengths with a right-angle-to-right-angle plug configuration. Along with the addition of the patch cable, Elixir Strings has revamped the packaging for its entire cable line. The updated packaging features a new brighter, bolder look that is in line with the Elixir Strings brand, making it easily identifiable to players familiar with the company's strings. The new packaging also offers added flexibility for retailers. It features a more standardized shape, making it easier to hang, stack, or display on a retail counter. In addition, the packaging is easier to open overall, allowing players to open the package and inspect the cable assembly before even leaving the store. The patch cable will be available starting in late January 2010.

Suhr Guitars' newest model has a luxurious look and feel. Unique features include a 3/4 inch maple top that is glued onto an alder body and commemorative inlay work on the fingerboard. With all this attention to detail going into every guitar, the company knew it had to make the right choice when choosing strings. Elixir Strings proved to be the right choice because of their superior sound quality and long-lasting playability. "We have been using Elixir Strings for six or seven years now on all of the guitars we build, so we knew they would again be a great fit for our 2009 Limited Edition Modern Carve Top," says Ed Yoon, director of marketing, sales & customer service at Suhr Guitars. "Elixir Strings have a very nice balanced sound and they maintain their tone for a long time. Customers notice how great the strings are and often comment on their crisp sound and long life. In fact once customers realize they are playing Elixir Strings, they tell us they won't use anything else." Each 2009 Limited Edition Modern Carve Top guitar features a set of light gauge electric Elixir Strings with ultra-thin NANOWEB® Coating, thus providing the best possible sound to both users and potential customers of more than 100 authorized Suhr Guitar dealers worldwide. "For high-end guitars such as the ones we produce, we think it's important for our dealers to showcase them with fresh sounding strings. This way our guitars sound as good as they can when a customer tries them out," Yoon continues. "A lot of other string brands start sounding dull after a few hours of being played. But Elixir Strings keep that fresh new-set-of-strings tone for a very long time and we think that's critical, especially for our dealers." Only 75 Limited Edition Modern Carve Tops are being manufactured. The guitar retails for $5,900.

Elixir® Strings, pioneer of long-life strings, featured its popular line of Elixir™ Cables at Winter NAMM 2009, which is the celebrated manufacturer's first fretted instrument accessory outside of premier guitar strings.

Delivering the most tonally transparent instrument cables, these innovative guitar cables deliver the truest voice of your guitar by providing clearer high frequencies, and smoother, more balanced mids. Elixir™ Cables are developed by Elixir® Strings and its parent company, W.L. Gore & Associates, which has been developing high performance cables for the last 50 years.

Elixir™ Cables are available in lengths of 10, 15, 20 and 30' (both right and straight angle jack plugs are available). Elixir™ Cables also feature a unique combination of extreme durability and flexible, non-twist memory for superior performance and easy, efficient use. The robust, branded plugs include custom grip housings for sure handling.

"Guitarists have had to rely on cables that act as pre-set tone knobs compromising their instrument's sonic performance," comments Elixir® Strings Product Manager Craig Theorin. "By designing a cable with one-half to one-third the capacitance of ordinary guitar cables, we've effectively removed the cable as a tone knob and allow musicians to hear the true voice of their instrument."

Theorin adds, "Just as Elixir Strings has brought new innovation to the instrument string category, Elixir Cables will revolutionize the instrument cable category. With Elixir Cables, we are proud to bring the same superior performance of Elixir Strings to a previously overlooked but critically important accessory."

Elixir Strings, pioneer of long-life strings, is broadening its Anti-Rust string product line at Winter NAMM 2009 (Booth 5000, Hall B). Now, all of Elixir Strings acoustic sets feature Anti-Rust Plain Steel strings.

While offering the same feel and tone as traditional plain steel strings, Anti-Rust strings provide corrosion resistance to extend the strings' tone life by three to five times. Elixir Stings Application Engineer Steve Rosenberg says, "Incorporating Anti-Rust technology into our full line of acoustic and electric strings ensures all musicians can take advantage of the long tone life that Elixir Strings are known to deliver."

"Elixir Strings strives to offer all of its customers the best quality strings possible," adds Rosenberg. Following the success of its Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for electric guitar, Elixir® Strings, the pioneer of long-life string technology, has proudly introduced Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for acoustic guitar. Elixir® Strings exhibited Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings along with its complete product line at Winter NAMM 2007, January 18.

Elixir® Strings Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for acoustic guitar have the feel and sound of traditional strings, but last up to five times longer than ordinary strings without corroding or losing their tone. These long life plain steels are the perfect complement to Elixir® Strings coated wound strings, now allowing acoustic and electric guitarists alike to enjoy the fresh feel and great tone of new strings far longer than with any other brand of strings.

"Now, acoustic guitarists can enjoy the same advantages as electric guitarists—a lifespan three to five times longer than ordinary guitar strings and lasting tone throughout the entire set," said Craig Theorin, product manager, Elixir® Strings.

The secret behind Elixir® Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Steels is its proprietary alloy plating that inhibits tone-killing corrosion. Although the new strings last longer than ordinary plain steel strings, they maintain a traditional metallic feel with the crisp, clean tone of new strings.

Hundreds of guitarists were enlisted to test Elixir® Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings over the last two years. The musicians were unanimous in assessing the strings' great feel and tone, and noted that tone lasted significantly longer than the strings they had used previously. In addition, in these extended field trials, of the used strings that were returned, nearly all exhibited little or no rust.

Sets of Elixir® Strings Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for acoustic guitar will be offered in Light and Medium gauges as well as a 12 string Light gauge.

With its Custom String Shop for electric bass strings, players now have the freedom to customize five and six string sets and are no longer forced to buy preset string gauges. "Elixir® Strings Custom String Shop is all about customization for bass players, so they can pick the gauges that they want," says Craig Theorin, Product Manager, Elixir® Strings. Elixir® Strings, the pioneer of long-life string technology, featured their new family of acoustic guitars strings for players who prefer the unique and textured sound of phosphor bronze strings at Winter NAMM 2006. With the unveiling of its new Phosphor Bronze Elixir® Strings with NANOWEB® Coating, Elixir® Strings delivered to acoustic guitar players something they have long been waiting for; phosphor bronze strings that keep their tonal "sweet spot" over the entire life of the string.

The consensus among many musicians is that phosphor bronze strings offer the most sensitive, expressive tone that brings out the very best in guitars—virtually taking them to a higher level of play. However, that tone can be short-lived. Elixir® Strings has solved this classic conundrum by applying an ultra-thin layer of NANOWEB® Coating to protect the string's windings hence preserving the coveted phosphor bronze tone.

"These new strings capture the rich, expressive tone of the finest phosphor bronze strings and extends that tone 3-5 times longer than ordinary strings", says Craig Theorin, Product Manager, Elixir® Strings. "Phosphor bronze players, who are typically accustomed to a short-lived 'sweet spot' of tone, report to us that they experience this coveted tone consistently through the entire life of the strings."

During player field trials of New Phosphor Bronze Elixir® Strings with NANOWEB® Coating for Acoustic Guitars, the vast majority of guitar players reported that the Elixir® Strings kept their dynamic and rich tone quality throughout the duration of the trial. Frederick Aquino of Salt Lake City, UT, said he loved how long the "brightness and the tone" held on. Dylan Heeg of Roseville, MN, said Elixir® Strings are in a league of their own. "The longevity of Phosphor Bronze Elixir® Strings with NANOWEB® Coating is unbelievable," Heeg exclaimed. "The strings still sounded brand-new even after six weeks," he added.

Sets of New Phosphor Bronze Elixir® Strings with NANOWEB® Coating for Acoustic Guitars will be offered in Extra Light, Custom Light, Light, Light-Medium and Medium gauges. The MSRP is $14.99 and they are available through distributors or direct from Elixir® Strings.

Thanks to Elixir® Strings, the pioneer of long-life string technology, electric guitar players no longer need worry about the amount of sweat they pour into their music. Elixir® Strings featured its acclaimed Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings at Winter NAMM 2006. These innovative strings have the feel and sound of traditional strings, but last up to three times longer without corroding.

"Elixir® Strings revolutionized the guitar string industry with coated strings when we provided a valuable solution for preserving the tone life of wound strings," said Craig Theorin, product manager, Elixir® Strings. "Our new Anti-Rust technology addresses the same challenge for plain steel strings. Guitar players no longer have to face rusty plain steels when leaving strings on for an extended period of time."

The secret behind Elixir® Strings' new Anti-Rust Plated Steels is its proprietary alloy plating that inhibits tone-killing corrosion. Although the new strings last up to three times longer without corroding, they maintain a traditional metallic feel with a crisp, clean tone.

"I don't know how Elixir managed to improve upon the best, but they did! I find the new Elixir Plated Plain Steel strings require even less maintenance and last considerably longer, while maintaining the same excellence in tone, clarity and intonation I have come to expect from Elixir Strings," said world-renowned guitar player Johnny Hiland. Further, Hiland has since requested that all the strings on his electric guitars be switched to Elixir® Strings' new Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steels as soon as they are available.

Dozens of professional musicians were enlisted to test Elixir® Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings over the last year, and the strings were commonly praised as an amazing guitar string innovation. The musicians felt that the strings sounded great, felt great, and noted that tone lasted significantly longer than the strings they had used previously. In addition, in these extended field trials, of the used strings that were returned, nearly all showed little or no signs of rust.

Professional musician David Thiele of Los Angeles said, "I used the strings for over a month. The whole set of strings maintained their clean feeling, tone and overall great sound the entire time. No rust! I'm buying them as soon as they come out."

Sets of Elixir® Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings will be offered in Super Light, Light, Medium, Heavy and Baritone gauges.
