Compact FX Processor and Looper for Vocalists

Los Angeles, CA, March 21, 2012 — BOSS is proud to announce the VE-5 Vocal Performer, a compact and mobile personal effects processor and looper for vocalists. Featuring a simple-to-use tabletop design that can be easily attached to a mic stand for performing, the VE-5 is perfect for singers, rappers, beatboxers, webcasters, and anyone that wants to have fun with processing vocal sounds.

bo.jpg

The VE-5 inherits high-quality effects from BOSS’ popular VE-20 Vocal Performer pedal, including reverb, delay, double/harmony, and dynamics processing. Also on board is realtime pitch correction and special effects processing via the TONE/SFX category. A built-in phrase looper lets users capture vocal performances with effects and loop them on the fly for exciting real-time presentations.

One-touch operation makes it ideal for singers, even those not familiar with FX pedals, to select sounds and turn effects and harmonies on/off with ease. In addition, users can store three favorite settings and access them quickly with dedicated buttons. The phrase looper is easily controlled from the front panel as well.

The VE-5 features an XLR mic input and XLR output for interfacing with standard pro-level equipment. There’s also a convenient built-in mic, which allows beginners and hobbyists to enjoy the VE-5 without having to purchase an external mic.

Other connections include a headphone output with volume control for personal monitoring, as well as a stereo AUX input for connecting an external music player for practice and sing-along fun. In addition, up to two optional BOSS footswitches can be connected for handy hands-free control of effects or loop functions.

Power is provided with batteries or an optional AC adapter. The VE-5 is available in two stage-ready colors: red (VE-5-RD) and white (VE-5-WH).

The VE-5 Vocal Performer will be available in late spring.

First Clip-On Tuner from the Industry Leader

Los Angeles, CA, January 19, 2012 — BOSS is pleased to announce the TU-10  Clip-On Chromatic Tuner for guitars and basses, the first of its type available from the  industry leader in electronic tuners. A number of unique and useful  features,  along with legendary BOSS accuracy and reliability, make the TU-10 a  true standout among clip-on style tuners.

With its ultra-precise tuning accuracy and stylish, compact, and  durable design, the

TU-10  is a must-have addition to any case or gig bag. The impressive true  color LCD dramatically improves visibility even in any lighting  condition, and makes tuning simple, with the current pitch shown  simultaneously via a streaming meter display, flat/sharp arrow  indicators, and a note-name readout.

The  TU-10 also has a monochromatic mode, which turns off the backlight and  provides double the battery life. To help users tune even more  quickly, the TU-10 incorporates BOSS’ proprietary Accu-Pitch® function,  which displays a positive visual confirmation when the correct pitch is  attained.

With  many clip-on tuners, the joint between the meter and the clip is the  most fragile part of the tuner. On the TU-10, there is no joint:  the meter and clip are one solid piece, for superior strength and  reliability.

The  TU-10 also supports flat tuning up to five semitones down, a feature  rarely available in clip-on designs. Flat tuning is particularly  desirable for guitarists and bassists that play heavy rock and metal  styles.

The TU-10 will be available in April 2012. For more information, visit www.RolandConnect.com.

(Photo)Los Angeles, CA, July 21, 2011

— BOSS is now shipping the MICRO BR BR-80 Digital Recorder, an updated and improved version of its popular MICRO BR multitrack recorder. The first MICRO BR, launched in 2006, was a big hit among musicians, offering pro-quality multitracking in a handheld device only slightly larger than an iPod™. With an eight-track upgrade, the latest BOSS guitar and vocal effects, built-in rhythms, onboard stereo mics, fun jamming and practice features directly inherited from BOSS' eBand® JS-8, and a Live Record mode that instantly turns the BR-80 into a stereo handheld field recorder, the BR-80 is sure to become an indispensable companion for guitarists, songwriters, and musicians everywhere.

The newest MICRO BR is small enough to fit in a pocket, but packs a host of features for pro-level music production. To start, it offers two tracks of simultaneous WAV-format recording, eight tracks of playback, and 64 virtual tracks for advanced editing and mixdown. High-quality stereo condenser mics are built in for up to 550 hours of recording time (with optional 32 GB SDHC card) for quickly capturing song ideas and rehearsals. Also included are dedicated inputs for connecting a guitar, a microphone, or any stereo line-level device.

With a next-generation processor at its core, the BR-80 delivers incredible effects processing with uncompromised sound quality. Onboard are world-class COSM® guitar and bass effects, dedicated vocal effects derived from the VE-20 Vocal Performer, and a powerful suite of mastering effects. As with all BR-series recorders, effects are easy to dial in, letting users capture pro sounds with little effort. Under the hood, power users can tweak the effects in detail via an extensive set of adjustable parameters.

To aid in songwriting, the BR-80 has a full complement of backing rhythm tracks in a large variety of musical styles. The rhythms feature top-quality drum and percussion sounds and are organized into patterns designed for use in different song sections.

The newest MICRO BR also offers an extensive set of features for music practice and jamming. eBand mode provides a huge library of backing tracks and rhythm patterns to play along with, and users can import their own WAV or MP3 songs. Variable speed playback, variable pitch, and A-B Repeat features enable players to learn riffs and practice songs in different keys and tempos. In addition, the Center Cancel function allows users to minimize the sound of guitar solos and vocals in pre-recorded tracks.

A USB port lets musicians use the BR-80 as an audio interface with effects for computer-based recording, and also to import and export WAV and MP3 audio tracks. Powerful software is bundled with the BR-80, including Cakewalk's SONAR X1 LE, the eBand Song List Editor, BR Wave Converter and Rhythm Editor.

The BR-80 is available now with a suggested retail price of $299.

Held at the House of Blues(R) in Anaheim, California, BOSS hosted the final showdown
of its first-ever Loop Station World Championship. The event coincided with the 2011
Winter NAMM Show and attracted an enthusiastic crowd of nearly 1,000. The audience
was treated to a dazzling presentation of both technology and musicianship as the world's
top six loop artists used BOSS Loop Station pedals to perform fun, inventive, and mesmerizing
original compositions.

Throughout the latter half of 2010, BOSS embarked on a worldwide talent search for
the world's best loop artists by holding competitions in 12 different countries.
From thousands of video submissions, these countries chose six performers to compete
at the final events, with the winners of each earning a spot at the World
Championship in Anaheim, California. The 12 finalists competed in a semi-final round
at the NAMM show on January 13th, where six top finalists were chosen to perform the
next evening at the House of Blues.

Contestants at the semi-finals included The Duke of Loops (Peter Davidson) from
Canada; Bebertos (Albert Ilyasov) from Russia; Fii (Michael Krappel) from Austria;
Seu Zeba from Brazil; Dillian Fevry from Belgium; and Simone Vignola from Italy. The
six that moved on to the finals were Shlomo (Simon Khan) from the UK; Naoryu (Naoko
Otsuka) from Japan; Greg Bal from Hungary; Clara Lindsjö from Sweden; Philip
Stendek from the United States; and Hyperpotamus (Jorge Gustavo Ramirez-Escudero
Susaeta) from Spain.

On hand to judge the final championship event was Dave Navarro, guitarist for Jane's
Addiction and The Red Hot Chili Peppers; Steve Stevens, a GRAMMY(R) winner and
longtime guitarist with Billy Idol; April Malmsteen, president of Rising Force
records and wife and manager of Yngwie Malmsteen; Paul Youngblood, director of BOSS
Corporation; and Dub Fx, a world-renowned beatboxer and winner of the 2009 BOSS Loop
Station Championship in the UK.

The six finalists performed original live compositions about five minutes in length
using one or more BOSS RC-series Loop Station products, and could use whatever means
they wished ”voice, mics, musical instruments, etc” to create sound.

Simon "Shlomo" Khan from the United Kingdom was the evening's big winner, executing
an electrifying display of beatbox vocalizations and live loop manipulation using
just a mic, his voice, and a BOSS RC-50. After the contest, BOSS artist and guitar
legend Yngwie Malmsteen performed a spirited set with his band.

New Distortion Pedal Recreates the Sound of Classic Stack-Style Tube Amps

BOSS U.S. is proud to announce the addition of the ST-2 Power Stack to its industry-leading compact pedal lineup. The ST-2 is a unique type of BOSS distortion pedal, one that gives guitarists both the sound and feel of playing through a large, cranked-up, stack-style tube amplifier. This is accomplished through BOSS' years of meticulous research in amp modeling, and represents a bold step forward in stompbox design.

As with all BOSS compact pedals, the ST-2 is very easy to use and built to last. The ST-2's key control is the SOUND knob—with this single knob, players can dial in three distinct stack tones, from fat crunch to punchy drive to ultra-high gain distortion, and every color in between. BASS and TREBLE knobs let the user add sweetening detail, while LEVEL controls the effect's overall volume.

The ST-2 has an extremely versatile range of distortion tones and authentic stack-amp feel, and is ideal for guitarists of all playing styles, from classic rock and blues to raging metal. It's perfect for players looking for a wide range of distortion sounds from a single stompbox, and for combo-amp and multi-effects users that want to add some real tube-stack mojo to their rig.

The ST-2 will be available in September with an MSRP of $162.00.

BOSS® is proud to announce the TU-3 Chromatic Tuner, (http://www.rolandconnect.com/product.php?p=tu-3), an updated version of the pedalboard standard TU-2. The TU-3 is the stompbox tuner for the next generation of guitarists and bassists, retaining all the features of its predecessor while adding many new tricks of its own. BOSS has been the industry leader in instrument tuning technology since 1983, when it introduced the TU-12, the world's first automatic chromatic tuner. This technology was later integrated into the popular BOSS compact pedal format with the TU-2, a stompbox that has gone on to become the bestselling pedal of all time. The TU-3 simply makes the best even better by adding a number of functional enhancements to the original's solid specs. Housed in a rugged BOSS stompbox chassis, the TU-3 is built to last. The new high-brightness meter mode improves visibility under bright sunlight, and a newly-designed 21-segment meter light ensures super accurate and visable tuning. The proprietary BOSS Accu-Pitch function visually verifies when the target pitch is attained. The sound output is muted while the tuner is on, allowing players to tune silently on stage. Tuning modes include Chromatic and Guitar/Bass, which allows players to tune by string number, now with support for seven-string guitars and six-string basses. The TU-3's LED meter and arrow indicators clearly show when the instrument is in tune, with two different display modes to choose from. To address the growing popularity of drop tunings in metal and hard rock music styles, Flat Tuning mode allows players to calibrate the TU-3 for tunings up to six half-steps below standard pitch. The tuner's reference pitch can be adjusted as well, over a range of 436-445Hz. The TU-3 will be shipping in January with a retail price of $160.50.
