AdDs Channels and Improves the Flexibility of Pro16 Personal Mixing Systems

Pro64 Network Manager Version 2.2

WEST CHESTER, PA, MARCH 19, 2012##Aviom’s Pro64® Network Manager™ version 2.2 will be released this month and adds an important new feature for using the network with Pro16® Personal Mixing Systems. With the newest  version of the Network Manager software, those using an ASI A-Net Systems Interface to feed a Pro16 Personal Mixing System can now  customize the system by selecting any 16 channels from the complete 64-channel Pro64 audio network to send to each mixing zone in the  system.

Now an Aviom personal mixing system can be customized more than ever before. With the added features in Network Manager version 2.2, those using  an Aviom Personal Mixing System in conjunction with a Pro64 Audio  Network can select the channels to send to each zone of A-16II or A-16R  Personal Mixers from the 64 channels of audio available in the network. This gives the engineer the ability to help each  musician customize his or her monitor mix while keeping it simple for the musician to use.

The trend in personal mixing systems right now is to offer more and more  channels for the user to control,” explains Aviom’s Director of  Marketing, Chandler Collison. “This choice, however, often makes it very  difficult for a musician to actually use the personal  mixer in a live situation. Aviom’s new Network Manager solution gives  the engineer or system designer control over what channels each group of  musicians receives, and gives each musician plenty of channels to work  with to customize the mix without making it  complicated.”

Pro64 Network Manager is a free download from Aviom.com/NetworkManager.

Aviom pioneered personal mixing with its Pro16® Monitor Mixing System and continues to break new ground with the revolutionary Pro64® Series of audio networking products. Use of Aviom Products Helps Attract New Clients, Makes Production and Maintenance Easier at The Loop Studios and Venue Rental and Recording Services

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, JANUARY 19, 2012—An Aviom Pro16® Personal Mixing System (NAMM Booth 6720, Hall A) is key to the launch of Grammy Award-winner Dylan Ely’s two new companies, The Loop Studios and Venue Rental and Recording Services. Ely, a live sound and recording engineer, works with major recording artists such as Linkin  Park, Jennifer Lopez and Ludacris. On the recording side, he has earned a Grammy Award for his work as recording engineer for Best Rap Album, for Ludacris’ Release Therapy in 2008. Ely’s success spurred him to start these new ventures.

As the owner of The Loop Studios, Ely wears many hats, including producer, Pro Tools engineer and mixer. His new recording studio, one of the only high-end  audio facilities in the South Texas area, provides a full gamut of production services, including recording, mixing, post production and a full-service voice-over facility. In designing his studio, Ely was looking for a simple installation process and an uncluttered studio atmosphere.

“Aviom products are easy to use,” he says. “I like that there’s not a bunch of cabling involved with the system. The mixers are easy to install and, since the system runs on a single Cat-5e cable, it is very easy to replace a wire if needed. This is unlike some of the other systems that use several multipin analog cables and connectors, which are more difficult and expensive to service and fix when something goes wrong.”

aviom.jpg

Equipped with four A-16II Personal Mixers, an A-16D Pro A-Net® Distributor and an AN-16/i Input Module,  Ely relies on the Aviom equipment for various functions. Using the  A-16II Personal Mixers, each performer in the studio is able to create a  unique, customized monitor mix. This solution has proven ideal for Ely, who can focus his full attention on turning out the best mix of a song.

“The Aviom gear is really cool,” states Ely. “The Personal Mixers make the  musicians very comfortable in the studio because they can  manage what they want to hear. Also, I’m not spending a lot of time  building their monitors in the studio because they can control and tweak  their own stuff as we go along. That has been the biggest advantage.”

Aviom’s  A-16D Pro allows Ely to distribute both DC power and Aviom’s acclaimed  A-Net signal to the personal mixers. Connected to Pro  Tools, the AN-16/i Input Module provides balanced line-level inputs to  the Aviom Personal Mixing System. Ely does not use a console; instead he  creates all of his mixes with his Pro Tools software.

“Once artists use the Aviom Pro16 Personal Mixing System, they love it,” says  Ely. “I think having this gear is a good selling point  for the studio. Musicians who have used them want to keep using them  and it’s exciting to turn them on to Aviom.”

Ely also owns Venue Rental and Recording Services, a full-service rental  company for the live sound industry. At Venue he uses an Aviom Pro16 Series Digital Snake as part of his setup. Most recently,  Venue provided all recording services for Linkin Park and members of the  Backstreet Boys while they were on tour. For his rental and recording  services company, Ely provides complete, high-end  touring console and multi-track recording packages.

Pro64 Firmware Update Version 4.35 and Network Manager Version 2.1 Now Available

west chester, pa, December 2, 2011##-Aviom’s Pro64® Firmware version 4.35 and Pro64 Network Manager™ version 2.1 are now available for download. The updated firmware introduces additional flexibility to Aviom’s m-control mic preamp control protocol for Yamaha® digital consoles, as well as the ability to seamlessly extend Pro64 networks while the network is running.

The new m-control feature allows users to select from two methods of mapping mic preamp gain settings from the Yamaha console to the gain and pad settings of Aviom’s Pro64 Series mic preamps. For most users, Auto  Pad, which automatically switches Aviom pads on and off based on the  position of the Yamaha gain control and whether the gain is being  adjusted up or down, is a good balance of performance  and simplicity. However, for users who prefer separate gain and pad controls, Manual Pad delinks the two settings, mapping Yamaha gain settings directly to the Aviom preamps and leaving the Aviom pad state unaffected by gain changes.

“As always, we are listening to our customers and their needs,” explains Aviom’s Director of Marketing, Chandler Collison. “This firmware update adds two new features to the Pro64 audio network that  people in the field told us they needed to make the technology ideal for them.”

Pro64 Network Manager is a free download from Aviom.com/NetworkManager and  includes firmware upgrades for all Pro64 Series devices.

Aviom pioneered personal mixing with its Pro16® Monitor Mixing System and continues to break new ground with the revolutionary Pro64® Series of audio networking products. Aviom, the exclusive developer of the world's most powerful audio transport protocol, A-Net®, is pleased to announce its presence this week at NAMM 2011 (Booth 7119, Arena) —showcasing the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System

Perfect for touring and other live sound applications such as houses of worship, the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O system eliminates several expensive and labor-intensive stages of the signal chain while reducing cable clutter on the road. Since the AllFrame requires only a single Cat-5e or fiber connection, plus DC power (which can also be supplied over the Cat-5e cable), it eliminates the need for soldering, terminating and testing scores of analog connections; installing conduits; and pulling separate cables for each audio signal, significantly reducing setup time.

With the recently added FK6 and SK6 mounting accessories, AllFrame I/O boxes can be installed in existing floor pockets or used as drop-boxes on stage. At the center of the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System is the F6 Modular I/O Frame, a multi-purpose network frame with six field-configurable I/O card slots and integrated Cat-5e and fiber optic connectivity. The F6 can be outfitted to meet the audio I/O requirements of nearly any application. Additional mounting options for the F6 include rack-mounting, with connectors facing the front or rear, using the RK6 rack mounting kit or on-wall or in-wall mounting using a standard NEMA Type 1 enclosure.

The AllFrame offers users multiple connectivity options via modular I/O cards. The C4m Mic/Line Input Card provides four remote-controllable analog mic- or line-level inputs. With the same mic preamp circuitry found in Aviom’s 6416m Mic Input Module, the C4m provides clean, transparent, archival quality sound. Inputs from the C4m can be controlled from an MCS Mic Control Surface, select Yamaha® digital consoles, or Pro64® Network Manager™ software. The C4o Output Card provides four XLR analog outputs with variable output levels, controllable in 1dB increments. For those looking to stay digital throughout the signal chain, there is the C2dio Digital I/O Card with 2x2 AES3 I/O with Word Clock I/O.

“By digitizing the audio input signal at the initial connection point, the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System keeps analog cabling to a minimum, reducing system complexity and labor costs while delivering improved performance and flexibility,” Aviom’s Product Research and Development Manager Ray Legnini explains. "These new mounting options are ideal, particularly for houses of worship looking to streamline their signal chain and clean up their stage.”

All AllFrame devices support Cat-5e cable runs up to 400ft (120m) between devices, with no loss of fidelity. With integrated fiber optic connectivity, cable runs can be extended to over a kilometer (multi-mode fiber) or tens of kilometers (single-mode fiber). The AllFrame can be used in conjunction with Aviom’s complete line of Pro64 audio networking products and Pro16® Series Personal Mixers. Because Pro64’s Auto Mode supports any combination of serial and parallel wiring topologies, without affecting signal flow at any point, I/O points can be placed anywhere the application requires.

Preconfigured aviom digital snake systems simplify connectivity.

Aviom (NAMM Booth 7119, Arena), the exclusive developer of the world's most powerful audio transport protocol, A-Net®, is introducing prepackaged Pro16® digital snakes in a variety of configurations that are tailored for a range of applications and ensemble sizes.

While Aviom is best known for its industry standard personal mixing system, the company has also been a leader in distributing audio over Cat-5. Both its Pro16® Series of digital snake components and its Pro64® Series of audio networking products have proven to be high fidelity, flexible, yet simple solutions for creating digital audio systems for houses of worship, schools, theaters, sound companies, studios, and broadcast companies. Users span the world and include most Broadway shows, live tours, studios, major televised sporting events, numerous network television productions and major motion pictures.

"The Pro16 Series was specifically designed to be a plug-and-play system with user interfaces that are intuitive for both the audio professional and for users new to digital audio," explains Chandler Collison, Aviom's director of marketing. "With these preconfigured snake packages, Aviom is making the transition to digital signal transport even easier for small contractors and do-it-yourselfers by reducing design and setup time."

The new preconfigured digital snakes include the DS48, DS32, DS32m, and DS16. The DS48 is a 48x16 digital snake featuring three AN-16/i-M Mic Input Modules for stage inputs, one AN-16/i Input Module for returns, and four AN-16/o v.4 Output Modules, along with the AN-16SBR System Bridge. For those users who require fewer channels, the DS32 provides a 32x16 digital snake. The DS32m is a 32x16 digital snake with an integrated Aviom Personal Mixing System that includes four A-16II Personal Mixers and an A-16D Pro A-Net Distributor. This system is ideal for performance venues, houses of worship, portable churches, schools, and other users who want to simplify setup and lower stage volume with a personal mixing system. Additional A-16II Personal Mixers can easily be added to give more performers control over their monitor mixes. Finally, the DS16 is a simple 16x16 digital snake that is a great starter system or addition to an existing setup.

"The Pro16 digital snake packages provide complete solutions, but additional Aviom components can always be added to expand the system you start with," says Collison. Expanding your system is as simple as adding additional input, output units or personal mixers as needed."

Company to make pro16® and pro64® digital snakes available to prospective buyers Aviom is announcing a brand new initiative at this year's Musikmesse/Prolight+Sound 2010 (Hall 8.0 Stand J70D). Through the company's new Demo Loan Program, current and prospective customers in the U.S. will have the chance to experience the power and ease of use of Aviom's Pro16® and Pro64® digital snake systems prior to purchase. Pro16 and Pro64 products will be on display at the company's booth throughout this year's show. "We learned early on, with our personal mixing system, that the best sales pitch we can make for our products is to let people try them and hear them," says Chandler Collison, director of marketing for Aviom. "This program is designed to let people get that firsthand experience with our audio networking and connectivity solutions as well. With a personal mixer, that 'wow' comes as soon as you put the headphones on. But with networking products, you need some more time to put the gear through its paces and see how much it can revolutionize what you do with audio." Powered by Aviom's A-Net®, a state-of-the-art digital audio transport protocol, Pro16 and Pro64 modules offer plug-and-play simplicity and modular flexibility. Both series can be effortlessly adapted to nearly any event, no matter how large or small, and can provide unlimited numbers of digital splits of the input sources. The systems are also both easily reconfigured, allowing them to be far more flexible and affordable than products with a fixed system size and limited expandability. Pro16 and Pro64 devices can also be set up without requiring a PC or extensive IT expertise. Under this program, Aviom will provide I/O racks and network devices according to a customer's requested specifications. Any person interested in receiving a demo system should contact Aviom or their Aviom representative. A basic Pro16 digital snake uses I/O modules in blocks of 16 channels to stream audio over a single Cat-5 cable, up to a maximum of 64 channels. The system design can be changed by simply rearranging the I/O modules. The modular system can support bi-directional snakes of up to 32x32 and 48x16 channels by simply adding more I/O modules. A more sophisticated technology, the Pro64 Series maintains the speed and simplicity of Pro16 but provides several features important for higher-end installs. Some of these features include a flexible system architecture with single-channel granularity, remote controllable mic preamps, higher channel counts (up to 64x64), and support for higher sample rates (up to 192 kHz). Pro64 systems can be configured to run as a bidirectional system supporting up to 64x64 channels or as a 64-channel true network with no directional limitations on signal flow, regardless of the number of serial or parallel connections.

Since the beginning of this year, the company has been hosting five or more of these sessions per month. The new expanded initiative features two training programs: one set of sessions designed for contractors, consultants, and other audio professionals and a second set designed specifically for end users. The training seminars cover everything from monitor mixing to getting started with digital snakes to advanced audio network design and have included Lowering the Stage Volume in the House of Worship, Aviom's Pro64 Series: The Next Generation of Digital Audio Connectivity, Aviom Solutions for Schools & Theaters, and Integrating Aviom and Your Yamaha Digital Console. Courses for both professionals and end users are listed monthly at http://www.aviom.com/training. Aviom's consultant liaison and training manager Jeff Lange teaches most of the classes. Lange explains, "The courses we started offering to consultants and contractors last year were very well received, and we were overwhelmed by the response we got when we offered the first webcast to end users. The interest in digital audio distribution and networking continues to grow, and providing reliable information is critical so that contractors and consultants can implement the technology effectively and users can take advantage of all the power of these systems. Moving more to webcasts this year has allowed us to reach more and more professionals than ever before, and also to begin providing the same support to end users with content generated specifically for their needs." Training continues to be a top priority for Aviom in 2009. "Both Aviom's Pro16® and Pro64® Series offer simple and flexible solutions to high-fidelity audio connectivity needs," Lange continues. "People have come to rely on Aviom for its Personal Mixing systems, and now they are turning to our digital snakes and audio networks because the benefits of A-Net are just as meaningful to users in these applications." Aviom pioneered personal mixing with its Pro16® Monitor Mixing System and continues to break new ground with the revolutionary Pro64® Series of audio networking products. With tens of thousands of products in the field today, Aviom has set the standard for high performance, scalable digital solutions. All Aviom systems harness the power of A-Net®, Aviom's innovative digital audio technology that simplifies system design while enhancing flexibility and fidelity. All Aviom products are designed, tested, and manufactured in the USA.

Aviom continues to add to its Pro64® Series with the introduction of the 6416o v.2 Output Module. The output levels featured on this new Pro64 Series output module simplify connectivity with other manufacturers' mixing consoles, amplifiers, powered speaker systems, and recording devices, and increase the flexibility of Aviom's high-fidelity digital audio networking solution.

The 6416o v.2 is compatible with a wide range of signal level requirements, making it ideal for live sound reinforcement, broadcast, and other audio distribution applications. Each channel on the 2U rack-mount 16-channel digital-to-analog converter has a four-position output level switch with settings for +24, +18, and +4dBu line-level, or mic-level output, as well as three-segment level metering. With the 6416o v.2, complex installations are easy to configure and manage by specifying the channel/slot range within a Pro64 network.

The new Pro64 output module can be used anywhere that analog outputs are required in a system: on stage or at front of house in a digital snake, in the studio, or even in the most complex audio networks. If required, a digital split can be easily achieved by adding a second 6416o v.2 module to any system.

In addition, the 6416o v.2, like all of Aviom's Pro64 Series products, features Virtual Data Cables™, offering simultaneous distribution of up to 14 channels of non-audio control data to any device in a Pro64 network. The 6416o v.2 provides VDC connectors for MIDI In, MIDI Out, RS-232, and GPIO.

Aviom has announced the release of a major firmware upgrade for its Pro64® Series of digital snake and audio networking products. The software release, which is available for free download from Aviom's website, includes support for m-control™ for Yamaha® digital consoles. With m-control, a user has direct access to the preamp settings on Aviom's 6416m Mic Input Modules from the user interface of most Yamaha digital consoles outfitted with a 6416Y2 A-Net® Interface Card.

The m-control feature offers another control path for Aviom's Pro64 Series mic pre. All settings on the 6416m can also be set from the device's front panel, as well as controlled remotely from any point in the network with the MCS handheld controller. A single MCS can be used for up to 64 channels of mic pre control, and multiple control points can be set in a single network. All three control methods can be combined freely in the same system, allowing system designers and operators a range of choices.

Ray Legnini, Aviom's product research and development manager, explains, "This is a feature we've been asked for since the release of the 6416m and 6416Y2. Users have raved about the sound quality and simplicity of the Pro64 system, but they've wanted an even more streamlined workflow. Providing access to the preamp settings from the Yamaha console and through the console's scenes is a tremendous timesaver for engineers."

To utilize m-control, all Pro64 Series products must be updated to the m-control firmware.
